What eu west means why a new region needed? Why cant just add plenty of new servers to eu central? Us started with 30+ servers, 2 regions if I remember well. Eu got 1 region and 12 servers. I am sure ags knew there will be lots of players coming, did nothing like with new world. Ags do not care much about eu region thats all we see and feel. I was happy with ags you know. Unlimited money, biggest serverparks but they are like an indie studio. Now when I hear ags i start shaking. Total amateurs.

Probably expected the Russians to invade a lot sooner, won't be a lot of free time for gaming once that gets going, people in EU going to have bigger concerns than lockouts.

There are many more people in Europe than North America, I don't know if we have less gamers as a percentage of the population here or something; but it does seem strange to start Europe with less servers. Spreading the server locations out within global regions obviously make sense.
Another site skipping over the fact that if you made ANY other purchases than the founders pack, Amazon absolutely refuse to honour these on the new server.
They also refuse to reissue things like Twitch prime / twitch drops etc.

It's based on AWS server zones. They are in different location geographically and I think you answered the question yourself. There is not enough resources to allocate in the Central zone and that's why we see the struggle. The server parks are big, but they are serving basically all of Europe. Especially the central ones.

Are you even playing Lost Ark? EU Central is at max capacity and at prime time, we are unable to queue for anything cross server. This would be even worse with more servers. If anything, they made mistake adding a single server above what was at release and they should have created EU West for F2P players right away
EU Central reached full capacity of servers/players. AGS and Smilegate are not able to add more servers even if they wanted to.
Smilegate never tested their game and cross server functions under such a huge load. Unfortunately, now they found out that the game engine can not handle so many players playing at the same time and queueing cross server activities at the same time.
I can't access my Product Inventory since 4 days ago or so. Same with the Store.
It seems EU West Region isn't helping too much. Sure, the Ques dropped a bit but they should of open few more servers in EU Central and.."call the launch". Things will settle in few weeks. Ques are a "normal" thing in MMO launches.

The only reason I can figure why they started with so little servers in Europe is maybe they figured a lot of Europe was already playing using VPN's on Russia or Korean servers and they wouldn't want to give up progress. I know a good many in the US where doing that already. They didn't expect the interest I guess. Not sure if people didn't buy the founders packs till right before or something as that would have given them numbers for it for the head start before the F2P gates opened. Who knows. There has to be a reason for a separate data center though also which we are not being told about.

They had plenty of capacity for the 500K or so founders pack buyers. Issues started when they let in the free players, which in my mind should have been restricted in terms of how many got let in.
They had to have a guestimated maximum capacity of their regions. Should have deducted the number of founders pack players and only let in enough free players to get close to the max...not just open the flood gates to any and all comers.
Paying customers should always come first and foremost during launches like these.

Your purchases on the cash shop are only bound to that server/region when you claim them from your product inventory after buying them. This has been made abundantly clear by AGS up to this point, and they have never once stated that they would be duping your purchases for you.

Thats not true though, on EUW there we queues in the several thousands by day 2 of Early access. They brought up a new server (me and some friends jumped to it), and within 3 hours it had queues of 6000
nah locking out f2p is literally suicide for a game like this, the entire purpose of f2p games is accessibility and allowing people to get in, get baited, and start spending

Yeah, you are correct, in the end they probably end up being the largest revenue source over the long term.

I made the decision to leave my characters over at EU Central after 65-70h of playing to start over at EU West. Took roughly 15 hours to get to the end-game state and everything is running smoothly. Kind of happy with the decision, although migration of characters would have been desirable.
It seems the overall meta-data servers are overloaded, more so than the specific game servers. You have the queues crashing and the marketplace not loading up - adding more individual game servers within the same cluster likely wouldn't help.
I feel sympathetic whenever it's the cash shop that's down for almost a week, and the actual game runs. Back in the old days, Fallout 76 had a bug in just about every piece of content but the cash shop always welcomed you with open arms.

Does anyone wonder why these days I would never play a new MMO at launch? Give things a couple of months to settle down and then have a look, it is almost as if the gaming public forgot New World coming out last year.

This is a rational approach, not just to MMOs but to games in general. I'm finally playing Cyberpunk on PS5 and I'm playing a completely different game compared to those who played it at launch.
But there is also this rush that you would miss when you do that. Early adoptors always get a worse deal for a worse product. Nonetheless, it got its own rewards as well.
I guess it is best to find a balance. Experience some at launch, experience most much later on. Despite all the queues, I'm glad I got on this boat from the beginning.

I am glad you did too, people like me need early adopters or we would not have a clue if we want to join in or not.
