Ok, like many others who quit the game... I am coming back...
I plan to get the 360 version.
I gotta ask though....
How does the Blue Mage get his spells?
Tanking?
Defeating foes?
and I heard cossair is really a buffer...
need info...
and which server do you play on and how is it there? Any nice girls like in the Hades server?

Blue Mage gets his spells by seeing them used. The mob has to use the ability while BLU's party is fighting it (and the BLU is in the vincinity).
Corsair is a primarily a buffer, yes, although he does have nice marksmanship (crossbow & gun) skills, and can do Marksmanship weaponskills, which only Ranger could do before (RNG is still the only class that can do Archery WSes). He even gets an exclusive gun to use, the hexagun. So there's real DD potential there too.
I play on Remora and I'm reasonably happy with it. All three nations regularly trade positions in Conquest, which is nice compared to some servers where I hear they often have a disfavored nation that's been in third as long as anybody can remember. I don't worry much about the girls because an MMORPG is a lousy way to meet girls.

Blue Mage gets his abilities from other enemies, not all enemies give all their abilities though, and it's based on level. You can't learn an ability that would be 8 or 9 levels above you, so for example Hell Dive is learned from birds. You can fight birds as early as level 2 or 3, but the ability is level 16, so you'll need to be 7 or 8 before you learn it. Your chance to learn the ability is also based on your blue magic skill, so learning your first one can sometimes take a little while, and you might have to farm the abilities at times.
Blue Mages are pretty much the most versatile job in the game, since they can 'set' their spells (you can only set so many abilities at one time, and then use from those until you set new ones), and certain pairings within the set spells can give different job traits such as bonus damage to undead/dragons/beasts,etc, or magic attack bonus, so on and so forth. Basically depending on your subjob a blue mage is capable of performing almost any role.
Edit: Yes, corsairs are primarily buffers. I play on Fairy, and theres a decent female population there (though I think this is across all servers from what I know of the community), but theres still a need to follow that 'always assume its a guy' rule...that and I agree with the above poster that MMOs aren't really the best idea when it comes to meeting people
