What Star Wars should have been...

The other night i had a dream, call it a force vision, in this vision Yoda spoke to me. Along side Yoda was Gui Gon Jin-directly behind these two famous jedi were a range of jedi that astounded me. The mission, was to ensure that Star Wars online, becomes a powerful force once again.

So there i am, sitting on a fallen tree on the planet, Endor. Surrounded by famous jedi, yoda sitting on my right, Gui Gon-Jin on my left. In front of me sat a young Anakin Skywalker. Yoda, as usual talked in riddles... "The force permates through us, binds us, makes us stong" Turning my head, i speak to Yoda, as Anakin tinkers with a rusty looking R2-D2. "Yoda, the force has left us, its been destroyed by the dark side. SOE dont know what the hell they are doing." i Say as i feel tingling in my neck. Mace Windu walks out of the gloomy foreground. "The dark side?" He asks. looking up at him, i get the feeling even these Jedi are outclassed. "Mace!" I say a bit too eagerly, which raises his eyebrows comically. "That is me, you are indeed wise." I laugh at that, then i turn to Yoda. "Yoda is there any good left in it? Can it be saved?"

Cackling laughter Yoda jumps of the fallen branch, "haha, can it be saved. that i find amusing. Trust in this game we did. See the future now, See the true nature of the Dark side we do...Here is what needs to be done Jessian, cause this is our only hope"

The vision blurs to darkness, straining my eyes i peer ever into the depths of this vast emptyness of blackness, then, out the corner of my eye i see it. Im sure it sees me, now it moves towards me, this vision of the future is all about Star wars Galaxies. As even the most powerful Jedi are ashamed of this bucket of shite that persists. Timeline,

This game starts of right after the fall of the Emperor, right after the battle of Endor. The reasons are simple, it provides the basic timeline to "ALLOW" Jedi. The Empire has fallen back to control their most loyal planets. As more and more planets in the galaxy uprise against Imperial rule, fighting has broken out across the thousands of planets. Here, players chose their allegiance. Imperial, Rebel, Smuggler, Hutt. Here players can now choose from 40 planets, each with their own race.

These are some of the various planets that can be created, give us the players the ability to have a breathing living galaxy. Allow us to see this universe that GL created. Let us choose the characters WE want to be.


CLASSES

Here 15 playable classes can be created. (More to add later)


COMBAT

Bounty Hunter

The Bounty hunter is the alpha class of combat, apart from Jedi. Here the player has numerous ways to inflict death on players. From Killer droids. to Ambushes. to flamers, to snare traps. Player bounties can also be carried out through the use of special* NPC terminals in cantinas, in four planets. Corellia, Tatooine, Coruscant, Naboo

Commando

Special combat player, able to attack and destroy heavy vehicles, AT_ST's + AT_AT's

Creature handler

Yes, the most interesting class out, the ability to control pets. from rancor monsters down to Womp rats.


Medic

Every Combat needs a medic, heres the one stop medical buddy.

Entertainer.

Used to remove loss of abilites after death, (from the very start this game had it right)

JEDI

This class must not be a playable class. This is a reward, a reward from the DEVS to the players for events, this can be quests. Live events or any other factor to allow a visit from a fallen Jedi. This will happen similar to the Old man. This leads the Jedi player* to meet with Luke Skywalker on Coruscant, in the Jedi temple. Here players will meet Jedi that survived the Imperial hunts, provides a background for players jedi to have been hidden.

SPY

This special class allows players to be able to enter other player held research bases to steal, money, equipment, designs and to even place ranking officers on their own bounty hunter terminals. Spies also has the ability to divert planetary defenses away from key cities to allow raiding.

Sabetour

Used to destroy heavy player bases.



CRAFTING CLASSES

Weaponsmith

Armorsmith



SHIP CLASSES

Guilds can invest and develop, research, steal and design capital ships. these blue prints are then made by ship engineers and provides a reason for space missions and battles.

Fighter pilot

The essential defenders of Guild owned captial ships, here the best pilots are required.

Bomber Pilot

Flies the work horse of capital ships, without these, space battles will be one sided. any player can choose to be both a bomber and fighter.

Captain

In command of battle ships, Star Destroyers, Nebula Frigates and so forth.

Commander

Is in charge of player run Capital ships, has the ability to call in reinforcements, use tactics, search and rescue missions and such like.

    why did george lucas supposedly start at ep 4, because he couldnt do 1-3 justice the special effects didnt exist


    do you think you can create Coruscant in a game world? with its planetary city or Kashyyk with its KM high tree's remmembering that trees are a nightmare to render?

    id love to be in some of these places but it realy isnt all tht simple also what value would a place like Coruscant bring to the game after Endor the rebelloin there was put down by ysanne isard and remained the imperial stronghold until she foolishly gave it away there wouldnt be open war there more like small skirmishes and what PVE content can coruscant offer? in order for it to not stick out like a sore thumb you would have to drop fighting gribblys everywhere and make it sentient/tougth creature centric.

    Dont get me wrong a fully imersive Star wars would be fantastic but it isnt technically feasable at the moment  without compremising the origional idea and hacking it down to a poor imitation prehaps in 10-15 years.

    Er... actually, I think SOE did a good enough job with Kashyyyk. I'd have been happier if they expanded upon that kind of design for more of the game, at least without the overinstancing. Some quests it was okay, but to have instances make up the majority of play there was a little excessive.

    vertical space is a challenge in gaming rarely do you gain or lose much height in a level or area thats why the vertical cliff face in half life 1 was such a good area it forced you to think about up and down but it was still only a normal level on its side it still didnt really have a huge third axis, if you give a flat coruscant your going to get slated by the fans and deservedly so, if you do a really big 3D area people will be lost and confused, i know many people who cant find there way round in FPS and get lost even in reletevly linear ones like Half life.

    Ah man, I don't know about that.  It's too much like guildwars, keeping the player on trails.  I guess for a minor expansion it would be fine (as was), but I prefer the large, open planet design.
