To say the EVE Online community is passionate is an understatement. Typically changes are met with a mix of praise and criticism, pretty usual for most games, but EVE typically garners more passion in its criticism from players. A recent sales pack by the developer has many high-profile players joining the chorus of critique, however.

So they sold it to Asian plunderers and now they will see their brainchild wither away.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
First create the problem... then sell them the solution. Sounds like perfect plan right?
If I'm being honest I am part of the problem. In addition to paying Zenimax several box prices for ESO along with a monthly sub I have spent about $250 on Crowns in less than a year.
Perhaps not whale levels but there's enough like me to keep encouraging developers to do so further.
As is often said, if there were no addicts there would be no dealers either.

mo2 got some true eve-online 2004-2006 vibes running back when ccp was a better company.
There is a difference. Its subtle, granted, but its there.
PLEX is just a currency. It can be used to buy benefits that cannot be produced by the ingame economy. (Game time, skins etc.) For you to obtain actual ingame goods (ships etc.) they have to be build as a product of the ingame resource economy. And to do that, you have to sell your PLEX for ISK, thus converting you exa-game-currency for in-game-currency.
By selling ships, they are just spawning in items, in direct competionion to their own ingame economy. And that has from day one been considered a bad behavior by CCP by the community.

That means CCP has to seriously rethink some things. I've long suspected Eve-O's player numbers are hugely inflated by the multi-boxers, Eve could be in trouble if something doesnt change, though I fear the user base might reject anything in that direction.
Like a jealous overprotective boyfriend, the player base might be loving this game to death.
