Bungie saying they would sanction players if they use a Steam Deck is a big reason to not bother with Destiny in general, on top of a myriad of other reasons not to play that dumpster fire of a game.

I'm picking at witch queen, it's tolerable... then I'll get tired of Destiny.

My biggest gripe is the core gameplay is all about peeking and cover mechanics, in a game that has 0 peeking and cover mechanics what so ever.

Imagine xcom. Or metal gear. Or sniper elite. Now remove cover... :/

I mean, am I wrong? It's dps based, not 'headshot to win'. 'Harder' is just more mobs and more elites. Not like the bots work better as a team... The game is full of cover positions. It's just limiting it doesn't exist as a mechanic.

I thought I gave some reasonable examples of cover adding to the experience without becoming a crutch. It wasn't a direct comparison.

What should I have likened it to, then?Tom Clancys The Division having cover while Wildlands didn't despite being newer? Those are DPS shooters too.

Just saying, when 'tanking' hard mobs slide peeking shots is effective in Destiny; it's just very uninspired and hitting crouch is not a cover system.

Being almost 100% invisible as a hunter with invisibility proc'ing on suppress hits is fun this season. Lots of ways to survive.

Still, would be nice to hold my machine gun around the corner so I don't need to rely on invisibility as a crutch while grinding better gear.

The comparison seemed strange to me because I never thought Destiny promoted cover-seeking gameplay. I've never seen anyone try to play it like that. Destiny always seemed more like Warframe, or even Doom.

Outriders has the issue that the playfields practically scream "Cover!" but the actual gameplay demands forward momentum for survivability.

It sounds more like there's some balance issues with either player defense being behind the curve or enemies being "too good".

Oh and Wildlands does have cover mechanics.

Heh we totally derailed this thread with Destiny crap.

I took a break from warframe to see what destiny 2 was like. Some similarity. I never had to urge to use cover much in warframe since like, year 2. Too many nukes, games beyond broken. Its a farce but it looks pretty.

They both are drowning in issues. Neither one really feels like it was made by people who like shooting cans in their backyard if you catch my drift.

It's a shame bungie are so anal about cheating they can't make the game portable. PvP streamers are a fucking cancer. I blame them more than anyone.

Same reason star citizen had easy anticheat forced on us with 0 warning breaking every single api assisted 3rd party assist software. Like, voice control etc.

Who is ALWAYS the loudest most obnoxious group in any MMO? They are the real reason for this decision with the steam deck.

Hah we did... let's see, Steam Deck... I think I get mine Q3? Could not care less about any multiplayer game on it, I'm looking forward to playing some chill, easy-to-pause games while I'm at work. I've tried my laptop but there's no comfortable way to use it (I stand for the whole shift).

To be fair you can install windows on it and run destiny if you really want to. It's still a computer.
