As posted on the DnL forums a very good list of the missing features of DnL on release. It might put in to perspective the game that could have been and the game that is.

The dream, and the nightmare"For those who havent been following (people correct me if im wrong or
add more) these are the features that we know (Based on official info
provided only) of that ARE NOT available on launch. Theres quite a few,
these are based on info collected over last few years of following (dnl
bible, stratics, etc). This is not to say they will or wont be coming
in the future but to give you guys an idea what not to expect on
Sunday/Tuesday. Enjoy
- Player Collision detection - where you have a meat shield of warriors block ppl attacking you in melee
- Political system - Kings controlling dukes barons etc
- Village micromanagment - Does this fall under political system (?)
Micro managing what goes on in your lands, taxes, crafts, etc - i guess
holdings are the closest things to this possibly is this system.
- Shadow Knight Vampyrism - Bite a player pass on the disease
- Theif Pickpocketing
- Underwater content (Indoor content was never mentioned(?))
- Mez/Stun/Crowd control disabled from PvP (Not even sure if this is mentioned any more)
- Engineer for seige weaponry
- Enchanter for item enchanting
- Brewer/Cook for Food
- Alchemist for Potions
- Exploration System - maps, etc
- Logout NPC mode - where you log out and ur player becomes a scripted npc
- Player Housing
- Guild Banners and Flags
- Raid grouping
- Fortress colour coding and alarms - see stratics for the info
Unknowns
- Brigandry/Wanted System"

To the list of things NOT at launch? Wellll then for once me and you can agree on something! WOOT!!
ITs already quite obvious by their own fanbois posts at the DNL site that the promised "optimised" engine still cant handle the load.
yap optmised engine is the only real issue for me, I dont mind several bugs/crashes etc..., however most people wont play laggy game however you turn it.
I dont have any troubles with it ( have good gaming rig ) but most of my rl friends/coworkers are not prepared to buy top gfx just to play the game ( and i completly agree with that )
The main problem is if you turn out graphics to the lowest settings its still looks great and you still have lag.
imo the preformance is around 30% worst than in SoG.
p.s. I realy expected less changes from SoG to DnL graphics wise and I was amased when I first logged in.
( imo its more than 50% improvement )
