Developer Bluehole has decided to end development on TERA, and the game will shut down at the end of June.

    There is some evidence for a possible Tera 2 release. (leaked Geforce Now list of upcoming games)

    Its unfortunate but I think it was the writing on the wall when it shutdown earlier in Japan. Good game, it just felt like it lost its direction once the genderlocked class releases took over. I do think the development team behind Tera is also the same one behind Elyon though? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

    Not surprising at all. Most NA players went to EU since NA was a straight up ghost town.

    Sorry for those who enjoyed the game, but 10 years is a good run.

    I really do have no positive opinion of Bluehole. Between TERA's direction shift towards genderlocking and *ahem* everything involving the Elin, and PUBG, I can't say I respect them.

    I still have my box from when I went to a actual store and bought it.

    The art on the box is the best part of the game and it's why i kept it.

    Game had some great combat and that's about where it ends. This game was supposed to be Lineage 3, original code was developed by NCSoft. Bluehole stole the source code from NCSoft and ran with it. As a fan of Lineage, that never sat right with me because I've been waiting for that Lineage 3 to drop for over a decade.

    And this is why WoW and Final Fantasy is so popular... not because they are the best, but because people perceive them to have the least chance of getting unexpectedly shut down.

    And it is also one of the reasons if I were to play and spend on an MMO again, it would be between those two.

    Sad. I played off and on since launch. It was a good ride!

    I have never played this, is there any thing for me to jump on and play until it Sunsets? I can give it probably 10 hours a week

    Well Christina mentioned the community and that's who take a hit from this apart from the staff obviously. I played the game for a few months years back but those who were loyal will be looking for a new home. That said for how many is it just one home among many, which is the MMO norm these days.

    It's a shame, it's one of the only mmorpg's where I actually enjoyed the combat. They set everything up but just didn't do anything with the game.

    It's like these developers can write the pitch but when making the movie they have no idea what to do.

    You just described perfectly how I feel about Blade and Soul. Best combat I've ever played in an MMO. Shame about the rest of it.

    I have trouble believing a game that was actually "good" or "fun" as described in these comments would have had such a hard time staying afloat. I tried it, and it felt like just another cheaply produced f2p money grab to me.
