    I love FFXIV, it's probably my favorite MMO. The housing system is an absolute garbage fire, especially since we've had the player surge.

    I have always hated the housing system in FFXIV and while I was at my peak I was one of the dicks who waited for it activate. Little did we know...it was always going to be the exact same.

    Like what's even shittier is once you have one you literally never use it unless for some reason you are a role player which in that case...who wants to buy a plot.

    It's so weird that this is the hill YoshiP has chosen to die on.... to absolutely, under any and all circumstances refuse to admit his "grand vision" for XIV's housing DOESN'T WORK.

    It's been a mess since it was first introduced ~10 years ago. Nothing he's tried has fixed it. All the band-aids made no difference, and even made the problem worse in some cases. Yet, he continues to double, triple, quadruple.. and on and on... down on it, applying more and more band-aids to a gaping wound that can't heal.

    It's like his pride/ego just won't let him admit "You know what.. This system just didn't work out. We tried to make it work, but it's clearly just not feasible. We're going back to the drawing board to do it correctly" (aka fully instanced housing at the plot level).

    This is the same YoshiP who has spoken at length about the arrogance and stubbornness of the developers who worked on 1.0 to recognize and correct clear problems. Yet here he is acting just the same.

    This is the same YoshiP whose team has spoken on the importance of "doing what's right, even if it's challenging", yet he refuses to live up to their own "creed" here.

    This is the same FFXIV whose promotional site features "Housing" as one of the game's core features, shown right at the top of the image, next to 'Fashion'.

    This is the same FFXIV with content that rewards yard furnishings... to people who can't get a house to actually use it in.

    It's like he just can't let himself give up on this "grand vision" and admit it was the wrong approach.

    Heaven forbid he admit he was wrong about something or made a mistake. He might be demoted from "god" by his cult of worshippers.

    Aaaand 25 years later UO still has the best housing system we have .. ..
