Well i'm sure that I'll get flamed by the naysayers and haters here. But from what i've seen in SoG and the Stress test beta i think that DnL has a lot of potential to be a really cool game.
I played SWG for almost two years and after the NGE hit it became pointless to play left my thriving WS business and cancelled.. I found DnL and it has what i'm looking for in a MMO.
Each time i've flown in a dragon. I'm in awe of the size and beauty of the world. that right there is more than enough to get me hooked.
Sure right now there are tons of bugs and missing features. I think that if the devs deliver half of what they promised then i'll be happy.
I see a lot of posts on these boards that are negative, spitefull. a lot of people don't want DnL to work. not sure why i guess they feel that they got burned. I can only say that if you have the cash then its worth the risking it to check out the game and decide for yourself.

it might have potential .. but it isnt worth 14.99 month right now.
you sure you are at the right forum? so you flew around and will be happy with a premium priced digital download only, premium priced monthly sub for only a fraction of what the hype really says and be happy for evermore with just flying around looking at scenery? Face it, even the fanbois themselves wouldnt stand for just that.
I suggest you check out a few more up and coming mmo's as they will have the same type of transportation but will come with an actual game instead of a clunky glorified flying multi-language chat room.
"they will have the same type of transportation but will come with an actual game instead of a clunky glorified flying multi-language chat room. "
yes. I dont really care about that price/item stuff as long as the game itself is made good..
I played SoG for almost 2 months. i did a little more than just ride on a dragon and check out the scenery. but that was one of the things that impressed me. There is a lot more to the game than just that.
I've made a lot of friends in the game, managed to get into a guild full of really cool people. Had a lot of fun in SoG and played in the stresstest for the first time last night.
I'm going to stick it out for a while and see if Farlan/NP3 deliver on some of their promises. If not then oh well. I can think of a lot worse ways to waste 15 bucks a month.
"Am I at the right forum?" LOL thats quite ironic. Why would anyone post in the forums for a game that they didn't like? I guess if they had an axe to grind, wanted to see it fail, that would explain it.
I got burned by SOE wasted a bunch of $, but i cancelled my accounts and moved on. I don't care what happens to them, i'll never buy another SOE game but i'm not going to troll the forums of their games hoping that i can "make a difference" people will still pay for and play their games. Matters not to me.
I think DnL has potential. Theres a lot of negative aspects of the game right now sure, but i would like to see it succeed. I've been watching these forums for a while now and they're very negative towards DnL.
So rip apart my posts. flame me for being a fanboi, whatever.
So that justifies going through the same thing again with a different company? It 's your money and time waste if you want I guess. DnL has had potential for a long time and for a long time they have not made any progress toward that potential, it has been in beta almost 4 years. As someone else already pointed out, go get a good flight sim and save yourself money and frustration.
I miss DAoC
"Go get a flight sim"
Now why would someone tell me what to do with my money or what game i should be playing?
If i wanted a flight sim i'd get one. Don't tell me what to do with my $. I said i was happy with DnL and going to stick it out for a while. Why is there a need to tell me that i should do other than that?
I also had very good time in SoG and have high hopes that DnL can turn out to be great ( in the long run, not release )
In SoG I already had more fun then with RF Online and EQ2 (eq2 its OK game, just not my type )together so that 60$ was well spent for me.
And ofc whoever dont thing 14,95$/month is not worth freedom pack is also an option.
(if you dont mind been nerfed once you break that lvl 20-30 )

Good for you! I support your descision 100%. You have the right to spend your money any way you chose.
However, if it lives up to what so many on here have said, you cannot say you were not warned. IMO there are a lot of worse ways to throw away your money, hookers, crack, watches from the guy in the trench coat in the alley. Heck DnL seems like a good buy in comparison. I personally would like to see the great ideas they have turned into a PnP game, I think they could handle the programming for that.

"And ofc whoever dont thing 14,95$/month is not worth freedom pack is also an option."
don't be such a sucker. that freedom pack is just a different way for them to get that 14.99 from you.
And what's so wrong with hookers and crack?

On an excitement scale from 1 to 100 you should be somewhere near 5-10.
You shall neve think too much of a MMORPG and even less from a MMORPG which developers never had any titles released before and with a good row of failures on their list.
This is the case, so excpect nothing.
The game they have described and the plan for DNL is the game I want to play. Simple as that. Yet I undestand the situation and will only hype when I have tested the game and love it until I get it myself.

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
See that's the thing, in 4 years they have missed EVERY single self appointed date. Not a single date they say has been respected. Many things they claim would be there at launch isnt. Now you're gona tell me MANY mmo's dont have all content at launch and that's true, but they bring this to a whole new level. They are new to this and it shows. A great engine with nice weather effect and huge field of vision does not a MMO makes.
I was very excited at that game, i went and bought SoG pioneer account. Now i am waiting for a refund. This game has great ideas but simply fail to deliver on a grand scale. But eh, that's YOUR 15 bucks, my 70$ or so Canadian will go back to my wallet, i can tell you that!

So basically you're saying if you pay for a microwave oven that advertise it can cook hot dogs in 10 seconds but once you got it at home you find out it do it in 10 minutes. Wouldnt you say you dont deserve a credit? When a game announce the game will have this much content and quite a bit is missing? Sure a lot of games as i said before dont launch with full content....but this?
Well bottom line is if you arent happy with a product, ANY product most store offer a warranty. No reason it should be any different for software or an online service.
I debated a lot about applying for a refund, i mean this isnt the first refund option they gives to customer. I passed on the first one because i thought this game still had a slim chance. I waited and waited and i am disapointed and as such a credit is due. Sadly to disapoint you the refund is in process
EDIT:
I wanted to add one thing, you mention the chance of luck? This isnt luck at all, this is a game that's being developed. They announce features and such and arent sticking to it by far and large. There's no luck involved in creating a shoddy product, inexperience? maybe.
Wow, what a lousy thing to say, Durahell. Feel free to live by your own opinions, and not inflict them upon others.
Anyway, I don't think it's so much the $70 that senadin is worried about. It's the principle of the thing. He was sold a bill of goods, and Farlan didn't even come close to delivering.
Erm no many want DnL to work.
But in this age of many mmorpg you can not release a game with hlaf of whats promised and in a buggy state and say "hey this game has potential".
People will move on.Gone are the days when there were 2 or 3 mmorpg to choose from and people were willing to wait.
