Been really impressed with the stability and frame rates of 3.17. At first I was having trouble but it was my fault for not deleting my USER folder. Usually I am afraid to do this because it resets my keybinds but I remembered to export them this time around. Now my game is running wayyyy smoother and is actually feeling really good. The desynch is much less but not completley gone. This patch was a huge step in the right direction and I am having a blast.

One of many posts on the same topic.

Good performance and stability update no doubt. But, be aware of the state of the UI right now before getting back into the fight.

I wish I was shocked that the inventory management requiring dragging and dropping of individual items made it into live build, but I'm not.

It's taking people HOURS of time to clear junk from their pile and sell.

Can any one name me any other current game that requires selling or moving stacks of missiles ONE missile at a time?

Lotta game breaking bugs right now from bunkers to mining.

Oh, right. Can only scan rocks from 400m now... fun right?

Clear your schedule before logging in.

I'm sure they'll get all the bugs and desync problems fixed before release.

Just think. This game was announced almost TEN years ago. People have gone from middle school to graduating high school and maybe even college.

To be fair, most games have a development cycle of that length, from concept to release - and when AAA games release faster, it's usually because of the advantages of a pre-existing engine, code base and established studio. SC didn't have any of these.

    No.

Normally your development cycle only takes a decade when you start some prep work while doing other projects, and spend the next 5+ years focusing on other projects.

Spending more than a decade actively focusing on a project without managing a full release is rare, and usually it's caused by problems severe enough that your project failed, had to scrap most of the work, and restarted.

Star Citizen had Crytek 3 engine to start with.  It was a bad decision, of course, but that's par for the course.  Picked probably because it made great snazzy trailers (done mostly by Crytek).  All the troubles with adapting the engine came from chosing  inappropriatly, and sticking with it.  Eleven years in and no server meshing or persistence.

Of course, it should have been easier to release SQ42 on that engine, but CIG can't manage that either.  Even though it should have been a slam dunk given the years of work.

And that's where they are today:  Years of work away.

CB2077 took 8 years from a well established company and is not yet fully finished (bugs and content not implemented) 2 years after release. At least SC is available through Alpha status and never pretended to be Gold... Also every gamer can test the latest build several weeks per year... for free

The problem isn’t that other products are better or that people can’t play SC. The problem is that they can’t play SC and then be disappointed with it without being shouted down or mocked by certain people. This all coming from the faulty mindset that SC is amazing so the problem is always, automatically, on the other end.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

My largest concern is that New World ran into massive exploits and I think SC is using the same engine with too much code player side. Considering how much players are paying for ships and the likely way they are going to merchandise this in a cash shop it could make NW's problems look like a picnic.

Why yes, it *is* funny how another studio overpromising ended in disappointment because they couldn't get everything they intended into the game in a realistic time table.  It's been well-covered how disappointing CyberPunk 2077 turned out to be after 8 years of development time.

And yes, it *is* hilariously ironic that you would try to use that to justify SC, which is already at 10 years and is in even worse shape than CyberPunk 2077 was at release.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

I'm not interested in SC until such time as NPC beds look realistically messy.
Without that level of immersion, the whole world seems kind of dead.
I should put in a feature request...

I have fond memories as a young child playing outside all day and refusing to go home even when I needed to pee badly....

I was bold back then, fearless even!

My request: (you know for "fidelity") I want to be able to pee my pants a little when I get excited playing the game (my character, not me silly!).

And for extra fun, can you please make it so that if I get a little dirty or dusty the wet spot in my crouch gets a little dirtier than the rest of my uniform. Ideally the stain would dry that way and I would get to wear it proudly until the next game crash.

    Please!?!?!
