As someone who has never played EQ1 (except one short, half-hearted attempt years ago) what would be a more authentic experience to give it another try, the TLE Yelinak or P99?

TLP is super fun in the beginning. I definitely recommend joining on day one. Tons of player running around and the game feels so alive. On p1999 everyone is max level and twinked out of their mind. Still the better game at the end of the day though .

Good point the crowd would be great. All the friendships and grouping opportunities. P99 may seem a bit sparse at lower levels.

Just a word of warning the content is limited in the sense that there are camps. Knowing this is new iteration of an old game means everyone knows where the best spots are and I guarantee it will camped 24/7. Just hope you have patience or play a class that can solo like a druid or necromancer or you might get frustrated.

Best thing would be to find some dedicated people who are grinding and be good buddies with them. The experience in Everquest might flow slower than molasses so being grouped is definitely advisable.
