Because trying to make an MMORPG on a $10k budget is suddenly a good idea?

The top 18 backers pledged $8732 between them, which is about 72% of the pledge value thus far, and more than 87% of the requirement in order to be "fully funded". That strikes me as suspicious.

Yep, seen this before. Low goal, mostly all gets backed by a small group. Years later and we get jack, too scammy to me.

I thought KS had/has some conditions where the pledge goal amount is supposed to reflect the actual true cost of the project. I know I read that somewhere in the past but I guess it's not enforced if it still exists.

Low funding goals are just being used, particularly with all of these alleged MMOs, as a way to ensure success and create hype for the games as "funded!"

Par for the course I guess for the far less than totally honest "MMO" projects that KS is flooded with these days.

On the plus side, hey @Splattr, another one to add to your list :)

Pretty clear after all of these years KSer does almost nothing except collect their cut, enforcement of their own rules rarely has extended past giving offenders a stern warning.

It's been on the list almost as long as the list has been around. Genfanad made its first appearance in week 4 (last week was #47) and has been on the list for tests and other stuff multiple times.

A lot of comments from people who are justifably scared but I know Heleor (dude who is making this game) - He's already poured tons of his own money into the game. When you guys see a $10k gofundme, it makes sense to be worried. That being said, this dude has already put a lot of his own time and money into the game. I'm all for calling out KS scams but I do think you should look deeper into who this dude is and what he's already done.

I say that and I will 100% not play his game. I support him and everything he does, but I am not a fan of RS type games (for the most part) and think OSRS is one of the ugliest games that exists now and refuse to play games that look like it.

But Heleor is a legit dude. Ya'll should look into this before claiming it's a scam.

It's more newsworthy than most of the things that have led you to make new threads about The Red Village.

A site has to post a lot of news items per day to remain active, and there just aren't enough launches of AAA MMORPGs to fill that quota.

The Red Village announces an mmorpg (The Darklands) has been under development that will expanded The Red Village, and investment by the top Web3 gaming firm in the world.

mmorpg.com goes with a game that raise 10k from 20 people.

I said "most" and not "all".  And I'm not telling you to stop creating threads, but only defending the site posting this news story.

Besides, mmorpg.com goes with a game that is an actual MMORPG.  Maybe this kickstarter isn't as big of news as the Drew Lock trade a few months ago, but this site is about MMORPGs, not a lot of other things in the world that might be newsworthy.

Fewer people will likely lose money from the 10K game.

Heck, quite likely there will be $10K losers in the Red Village game.

Top Web3 gaming firm still seems like a pretty low bar to me, sort of like being the top vape juice firm maybe.

Lots of questionable efforts have big money chasing after them, Casinos, pharmaceuticals, doesn't mean they'll turn out well for most.

Hate these people. In a time where it's never been easier, cheaper or less time consuming to be a game design hobbyist, every grifter and e-begger in the world seems to think people should foot the cost of your hobby.
