Release date?

Is the official release date May 30th?  I really hope this game is a keeper.  It would be nice to start a game from the get go, instead of months after its out.

BTW, this is my first post here. I would like to say hello to everyone and see you all in the game very soon!

“Even if its not all finished like we’d like, but we have too much
delays so now we have to get it out, its time,” says Quilichini

Stephane Quilichini IS the Lead Designer of D&L.

Scares me that they admit they are pushing it out when it isnt up to how they want it.  I'm sure it will be fine though and will continue to improve a fast as they dare.

Hello, and welcome, Stagnok.  I've found from bitter experience that being with a game from the start can be both amazing for some games and disasterous for others.  For example, the first 6 months of SWG--while painfully buggy--were the best times the game ever saw.  While games like AO and EQ2 where horrible at release--AO from bugs, EQ2 from stupid design decisions.  But they both got much better over time.  I'm afraid that DnL will fall into the latter category.  If it survives the rocky start it is destined for, it might get better, and even playable within a few months.

I must agree in part with indiramourn on this issue.  I've played several MMORPGs from their release date (Shadowbane, EQ2, DDO, Horizons, CoH, RO) and the experience greatly varies based on a number of factors.  Based on the hype of the game and the potential features offered by the developers, I strongly feel that this game can turn out to be a huge stepping stone in the right direction for the next generation of MMORPGs.  I don't feel, however, that it will be such an impressive title from the release.  Based on my experiences with other MMOs though, I will be jumping into the game within the first few weeks following release - not with expectations of grandeur, but rather an aged understanding and willingness to experience the game as it grows towards its potential.

then you are a saint as you will most probably find a very empty world without really much to do, while waiting for the "future patches" that will brighten your day with the newest challenging bug they have birthed.

Yeah, well, I guess that'll mean more kingdoms for me to rule over and less people to stand in my way of acquring such power, won't it? :)

If you run over to the official forums you can watch it self destruct before your very eyes. It is kind of like watching the Titanic hit the iceberg. Disasters of this magnitude are rare indeed and we all have front row seats.
