FFXI Config problem

in Final Fantasy XI

I have a computer that meets all of the requirements and I have a geforce fx 5600 265 mb ddr video card.  After the game is installed I run the config file and it shows up but it is totally blank.  When I run the game it flashes a black screen a couple times then says I have a 3d error...  Anyone have a clue what this could mean?

    your config file should not be blank...you may have a corruptible disk.  I would update your video card too (I have a 5600 also and I have updated twice already)
