Look like an old school everquest and oddly my interest is piqued. EQ was my first computer game ever. Tore my pec had a long recovery time. My friend was playing it and suggested i try it to pass the time. I got hooked and been gaming since. The old school graphics don't bother me but if the gameplay mimics EQ I'm tempted to give it a try just for the nostalgia.

Nothing like an old school MMORPG.......... I'm definitely interested.  I miss the old school games...... like Vanguard. "There will also be 13 races and 18 classes" I love having so many choices in a game!

With graphics like that we might actually get a good game! I love the Everquest vibes :)

This takes me back to my DAOC days in the early 2000's. I haven't played a MMORPG in a long time, but this has me interested. I'll keep an eye out for further updates via this website as time goes on.

    Everquest 2.0

Gives a weird vibe. I mean EQ is still live and you can play it, this proof of concept looks like an exact copy of EQ. All the way down to trolls and ogres being too large and needing a shrink spell to get around dungeons.

I don't know about EQ, but some of the original MMORPG's that are still around aren't like they were when they were new. They've made changes to appeal to the players who enjoy a more solo-oriented quest hub experience. I'm not knocking that playstyle, but saying we can go back and still play the older games if we enjoy what we see here is ignoring how much those older games have changed.

EQ has changed, but Project 1999 apparently operates under legal permission and claims to offer the kind of play experience their name suggests.

So, in that specific case, it seems one can go back, or at least quite closely so. The permit should also ensure stability at least more so than those without.

Pretty much, other than being a bit smoother looking. Maybe there is more to it that will be revealed in time, or maybe they feel an aesthetically updated EQ-like is enough for the audience they seek.

    Hmm the graphics.

The graphics look really nice - I like old graphics that leave a lot to the imagination and the focus is on the gameplay instead. I've already been burned by indie MMORPGs, so I hope this one succeeds, at least to the point that Project Gorgon has. I have bought into one other indie MMORPG that seems like it's in the process of being abandoned right now so I won't buy into this until it's in the state of Steam Early Access and it doesn't cost more than $20 that I can throw at it and have some fun for some 100-200 hours.

Very heavy EQ vibes. Looks like their proof is a recreation of the Freeport area of the game. The Desert of Ro starting zones fighting fire beetles, jackals, snakes. The nearby dungeon of Befallen with all the skeletons. I smiled hard when I saw the Spectre Island from Oasis. Even the music sounds like the original EQ overture. This looks good. I like the direction of the art style. Heck if Pantheon gets any closer to Star Citizen levels of Soon* we may see this one first. Signing up to keep an eye on it.

Looks pretty cool. Reminded me of Istaria and I thought: Should they accept modern Directx (not pre-historic versions) - almost ideal game to play.

Well, pay-to-play plus forced group content. A pity, could have perfect old-school game if it had any f2p option (just look at pre-nerf Istaria!).

Yeah because the one thing missing in today's market is a F2P game that can be soloed....
