Chimeraland is an Open World Sandbox RPG Survival game with plenty for adventurous gamers to enjoy. One feature that has certainly caught Steven's attention is the Character Creator, and he thinks you definitely need to check it out.

Its a nice time sink, but I'd just be wary of the 'stamina' (energy) system they use. It seems to be tied to a lot of things and as with all games of this kind, they give you a lot upfront, so you wont really notice it until later down the road. Almost similar to archeage's labor system, just a bit more in their cap if I were to compare it to anything.

When the title of the article says "Just for Character Creator', it sends a warning flag my way.  I love going in and making my character, but the headline makes me think that the rest is Meh.  If it said something like, 'it's a good game and the character creator is great', I would have more confidence.

Well from playing for about 6-7 hours, I'd honestly say it depends on what you're looking for from it. I dont think anyone would disagree that the game is really janky and does need a lot of work in the controls depart (building drives me up a wall sometimes....figuratively). With that out of the way, I did mention before there is a lot of crazy stuff you can do in the game. Can tame pretty much any monster you fight (although is pretty rng), can have guns or use magic or melee (though combat camera in melee and hit detection can use some work imo, depending on where you shoot does increase your damage though, so that's a plus to me), build your base anywhere you want pretty much with a lot of customization and even parkour a bit. So at the very least, this would keep someone busy that was looking into stuff like that busy for a few hours.

Really though, Chimeraland is rough around the edges as are many indie MMOs. You aren't getting a full AAA budget here but I am enjoying the game regardless. To Steven's point, the character creator is very indepth and provides plenty of options for those looking to make a unique avatar, even if that flexibility means you can create an abomination just as easily as you can make the character of your dreams. Or both if you have nightmares.

Its a decent f2p game with a lot of nice things but plenty of crappy elements also. To each his own, go try it out for yourself. I love housing, taming and I simply adore flying around. But I completely dislike combat so I stopped playing after about 100 hours (Asia servers). Again, to each his own.

A bit harsh but to each their own. I dont think anyone is saying this is a AAA contender or anything like that, but if people are just looking for something to mess around with for a few hours or even use as a go-between game, its pretty good for that. More long-term after that, the problems become really obvious so I'm not going to play it seriously, which is fine I think....?

Not my typical type of game especially with the need to eat bit - eating for buffs? fine, but starving to death after a few hours of not eating like it's right out of a home-bound snowflake's worst nightmare, is boring shit.

However... I did DL it to check it out and it's honestly better than I expected and the PC performance is just fine (after I followed a tip from a Steam review and did not go through Steam for the DL but from their site directly - bad PC performance seems to be Steam related) except for the no full screen, real or borderless window, mode - unless I just missed that option somewhere.

I read on another thread a comment about no hand holding which is totally wrong - if anything there's too much hand holding in the tutorial that has you do the simplest and most mundane things imaginable and rewards you handsomely for it.

The UI needs some serious work though.

I could see myself spending a few more hours with this which for me and survival games is really saying something.

I played it some during the closed beta test using their PC client but didn't find it much to my taste, but part of that was due to oddly abyssal performance at that time.

It may have improved since though, so I should give it another look.

I think we know what kind of character creator you were looking for....

Glad it's not one of those. There are way better characters to create than overly sexualized women. Seen plenty of them in a lot of other games, it was cool to make an overly sexualized catfish for once.

Character creator is literally the least important part of any game to me....I could care less what my avatar looks like, especially when we either only see the back of them or, if first person, not at all.....

These survival games can be fun. I still recall making my hut in Valheim and dying from smoke inhalation. There was dramatic animations and sounds to go showing my avatar choking and dying.

It can get tedious if you have to keep eating and checking for stuff like that. I think Ark Survival they even had a slider for poop.

Took over half an hour to load and when I got in it was poor performance. I'll give it another shot later as a non steam user did pretty much the same ting I did and had no issues.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

I really hope this game is offering more than just a character creator.  I like a decent avatar but is not even close to the top of the list.

To me the building aspect and the pet system are a bit better than that character creator (but I'm also not one hyper obsessed with the look of my character). Not many games allow you to do all this game has to offer in one setting. I can be an armored up knight dude with a shotgun-like bolt gun riding on a horse with wolf parts and wings in this game. All the while building a house with as many floors and rooms that the building cap will allow. The idea of the game is cool at the very least.

It has boobs, if you pick a race with. Any of the human females will suffice. You can even modify them to extremity so clearly you weren't trying hard enough.

While messing around with sliders I was able to design a woman with mammoth tusk shaped mammaries offset by a huge hunched back and other varied disfigurements. The slider ranges are a bit extreme.

I created what looks like a mindflayer instead, the aesthetics being more pleasing than what could have easily been some mad scientist's creation.

As for the game, it's alright, but after I finished building my stone house the next rainstorm poured through the roof as though it wasn't even there. As it took a fair bit of time to build getting that result was rather underwhelming and somewhat draining of what enthusiasm I did have.

On the plus side, I watched in apprehension as a tornado approached that very same house earlier on in construction. It felt pretty ominous while it was looming toward me. As fortune would have it the tornado didn't actually strike but things felt a bit immersive for awhile which doesn't happen often for me these days.

Few friends played this for some hours to level 20.  First impressions so far are.

    -Interface is massively clunky

-There is a lot of stuff going on for a new person to figure out, new player experience is not great.

-Seems pretty rough, movement on hills especially is awkward.

-As far as lag goes from steam download, I didn't see any at all, nor did my friends report any.  Although they have new computers and I have a 4yr old 1080 ti, so maybe that's enough to run it smoothly.

-Has some interesting concepts with the evolved tames and stuff, I want to explore this a little bit.

I had one friend log out, and when they tried to log back in,~~ their char was gone, they were going to quit anyways so no real problem there.  Another friend thought the game was Meh, I thought the game so far was Meh.  I am going to play a bit longer just to see get a little better picture before I decide to stay or quit.

There was an update today that is supposed to improve performance on the Steam client.

Same, I generally just hit the random button until I get a general look I want, change up the hair and eye color, adjust the height /  boob sliders and away I go.

10 minutes tops on a bad day.

So not the hook for me.

Man, devs should just institute a stick figure character for some of you folk!  (and you'd probably like it.)  :)

I need a bit more immersion.  That said, a lot of games fail there, so personal issue, I guess.
