    How can this be true?

We were told in other threads that money has zero impact on your ability to enjoy the full game.

    Battlegrounds... Path of the Immortals...

You mean that there's a massive part of the game not covered in just the free introductory campaign? Who woulda thought that was true...

    THAT said...

See this guy can solve his "issue" all on his own. He just needs to give someone else 100k to spend on the game so that he will have someone else to fight! Or maybe just 90k so he remains "the best".

What a mess this game is...

Now, I'm not a Biologist, but....

After all the D:I puff pieces I've read here, I'm to believe they did NOT 'think ahead' to how 'a player with this much cash could'.... 'spend it'?

Despite not being able to max a gem with out spending $...

There's nothing to destabalize when you're playing alone. This is what happens when you have the personality type that spends 100k on a game... it's lonely at the top.

Blizzard is more concerned there were no other greater fools left to fleece or they wouldn't of pushed the story here.

I hope he will lose a boatload of subs over this. Selfish assholes like this one are the reason why this crap is now pushed left and right. If it's not genuine whales, it's these attention whores willing to do anything for clicks and subs. Après moi le deluge, right? Yeah, keep feeding these companies and turn this tabloid streaming into another monetisation model for Activision et al. And 10 years from now this industry can go fuck itself.

To be fair I think the staff has been openly critical of the monetization and have posted many articles around that.

The entire base game can easily be played for free. Beyond not so much. This distinction has been clear since the game released, at least to those that have played it.

His self-created issue with have to be self-resolved.

Eeeeh. Yes and no. They have attacked it but have also excused it, a content justifies the means kinda vibe.

Their reviews here of the beta gameplay were why I tried it at lauch despite knowing the model. I wanted a vicarious D2 experience.

But even when they attack it, it's never 'this should be avoided'.

I've read this crew go harder insulting a standing gaming desk in reviews, than they have even now on D:I.

I don't think you have the slightest clue of what "the entire base game" means. It doesn't mean carve out that which costs money and call that "the entire base game."

Diablo franchise by definition is an 'end game' grind.

The entire 'base game' doesn't even begin til 3rd playthrough/tier.

Gear rank is influenced by gem rank in D:I. Gear rank determines your atk/def.

You have to pay for max gems, thus...

No. He doesn't understand 'entire base game' with relation to this at all.

It does in this case. That you can't see that is your lapse, not mine.

It's even simpler than that as evidenced by D1, D2, D3 and pretty well any other ARPG that has ever existed even in the first playthrough.

They are all about trying to get the best gear you can wear at any level. That's the base game. Special end-game modes that you do for challenge (AND loot) are irrelevant to the DI monetization discussion because even though being well geared is more important for those, it's not exclusive to that. Well geared is the name of the whole game, base or not.

What DI does and why it's an indefensible total piece of shit is they monetize that.

You'd have to do some serious mental gymnastics to disregard the cost of of gems which are very much part of that "best gear" at any level as soon as you get your first legendary drop while leveling.

Diablo is many things. There is a base game that one can complete without even knowing about what other features may be present. It allows one to play through the entire story, kill the big bad, and roll credits... you're done.

One can grind it on and on if you wish, but need not to complete the base game.

What I don't do is confuse it with that which normally comes along with in the purchased versions of it.
