It's like they hire someone from Fiverr...
And yea, the art style is not very fitting. Would be better if they just used in-game character models for everything in these videos.
All this is explained in game as well. SqEnix seems to want to make REAL sure everyone has gotten the tutorial in game through pop-ups, the tutorial quest-chain for playing your class, and these videos.
No. Many of the things, including stuff that was shown in videos, is not explained well in game, requiring people to Google stuff or ask people in Discord or discover things because someone in game pointed it out. I still meet new players who don't even know that they can finish Hall of Novice quests (which should be mandatory for every new player) to get a decent gear set before doing their first dungeon, or that they're supposed to equip a new job stone (something that should be mandatory) for their GLA/THM/LNC/CNJ once they reach lvl30 and do special quest to upgrade their class.
Some players still don't know all the cool stuff (new instances/stories/rewards/locations) you can potentially unlock by doing "blue" quests and so they skip them thinking "these are just like regular fluff quests" until they start unlocking flying. They also don't know that some unique FATEs do not appear on map (until you're next to them) and do not spawn every day and these unique FATEs give out unique cosmetic rewards not obtainable through other means. Or that they can save a lot of in-game currency when using fast travel if they can do things like buy Aetheryte Tickets using different kinds of in-game currency (Allied Seals/Centurio Seals). Or that "travel speed" upgrades you buy with Seals only affect ground speed of the mount and do NOT affect flying speed of the mount. And many other things that players do not know because this game is TERRIBLE at explaining stuff through in-game help/text. And instead of useless videos like these (something that many new players won't even bother watching because they won't be even aware that these exist) it would be much better if the developers improved the in-game help.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
It's made by the Western branch and only for the Western audience. I don't think that it fits the original artwork either, but it's not the first time that something like that has been done on the Western side of the game. And I'll stop giving my opinion there.
To be fair, all that is actually explained in the game, including the gear rewards. It's just a case of players not reading properly what the game is telling them. i know that some people get tired of reading text and just skip parts of it or "read" it fast, but in that case it's not the game's fault that they don't know stuff later on. As I said earlier, notice how these videos are exclusive for the Western playerbase. It should tell people something, because the japanese players aren't demigods that know everything without being taught.
I'm not saying that the videos can't be helpful. My point is that the game is the same for everyone (well, except for China and Korea), yet these videos are directed only to players hailing from the west. Resources were allocated into making them only for a certain part of the playerbase, so they must have seen an issue existing only on players with such background. And if the game is the same, it's easy to tell that that's not where the fault lies in regards to a lack of information.
This will definitely help.
