I never got into these games. I have a hard time with single player games these days. Even if I shun grouping, I still like playing with other virtual humans.

That's what I'm sort of hoping it is.

I also prefer MMOs over single player games, because they somehow feel more alive in a way, but I wouldn't say no to a single player RPG that simulates being an MMORPG by having AI-controlled adventurers walking around that you can group with and maybe even establish some kind of a communication in the sense of Keywords/Query where you can ask them to follow you or group with you or trade with you and they can accept or refuse based on other factors.

As for Asassin's Creed, I was interested in the first one, because it kinda looked like a Prince of Persia game, but I was immediately put off by the fact that you are actually a random guy in the future that dives into the memories of his predecessor. This is IMO immersion-breaking and dumb as hell. For that reason I could never touch any other Assassin's Creed game after, I didn't even finish the first one, as soon as I was returned to the future I had a WTF?! moment and ALT+F4-ed out of the game and uninstalled it immediately.

Bit of an over reaction there amigo, you missed some good games, 2, Blackflag, Origins, Odyssey and say it quietly but once it was fixed to a decent state Unity were all great fun and very enjoyable for very different reasons.

To me Odyssey was the pinnacle of the franchise. Amazing game. They'll have a difficult time topping it.

Well, it's not immersion breaking as you play a character who is time traveling. You know that you are time traveling. The immersion is that you are a character who is time traveling.

Now, I didn't like that aspect either as my "want" was for a pure period piece. That and the horrible controls on pc and I didn't finish the game.

It feels like they are slowly moving away from that whole time travel thing as Assassin Creed Odyssey barely had any of it. Now, I didn't finish the game so it's possible there's more but even I was wondering if they just dropped it form that game.

Apparently, this one is meant to be a return to form to the pre-Origins OG formula.

And I am so here for that.

For me that's like jumping between past and future. I have watched some series or movies about time travel and I liked them better, because it was handled differently, and on a smaller scale, like time-travelling in days or months, not centuries. The only movie with such drastic time jump was The Time Machine (2002) and I kinda liked it, because he was only jumping forward.

But this constant jumping back and forth is not my kind of jam, it's breaking my immersion, either have the game in the future or in the past. When I saw the first game I thought it was like a more grounded and realistic Prince of Persion, I was wrong.

If Prince of Persia had that time travel thing exactly the same as in Assassin's Creed, I wouldn't like it either. And I really like the Prince of Persia theme, mostly the first three (Sands of Time, Warrior Within, The Two Thrones) Ubisoft games.

I just hope it's as big as Origins & Odyssey.

wonder how much will be time gated behind the cash shop.

I have enjoyed the games. Hope it is good.
