This game is the best ive ever played.
I'm blown away by the way it looks with little to no lag.
I love the wars and the community.

I'm considering leaving AO (a game i played for 1 year now) completely
just because of how much fun im having with this.

I want to know though, what type of server should i play
theres classic and normal and pvp and roleplaying
i chose the highest populated normal server for now

Is this the best choice??

Also any tips for a newb is handy :):)

Just another handsome boy graduate...

Well, maybe you should try classic for start. You don't need "buffbots" there and less pve (but some people like pve), more low level chars to level with. Downside: no ToA items make crowd control much more powerful, which I don't like (btw, I play on RP server).
    So:
classic - more new people, less grind, no buffbots
rp, normal - after latest patches rvr balance is better there, but you need buffbot or guild with bots
    other - dunno

I recommend going with a classic server too, mostly because RvR will be more accessible to you without having to acquire and learn all the Trials of Atlantis abilities and artificats.

However, regular servers with all the expansions will provide a "deeper" experience.

I too am new and also blown away by how great this game is!

I would say go Classic. ToA is all about RAIDs. You are forced  to RAID if you want to compete in RvR because of the uber items you get from it. Plus, more people on the server means more people to RvR with; go Classic. And, on the "regular" servers, vets can type /20 and take their alts straight to lvl 20, so you would have very few low lvl people to lvl with. Unfortunately, there are no classic roleplaying servers.

Agree, but after last tweaks ML and artifacts are not that bad. Most MLs you can do in 1-3 hours and you need much less people then before. Artifacts are now BG doable, so people raid them - and it's very fast, in 4 hours you can get credit for 95% of artis (and now you need only credit, don't need artifact itself). Scrolls are also easy (-> cheap on merchants if you don't like to farm). Also artifacts level very fast on everything (yes, in rvr too). So you can get to ml10 with full ToA suit in 2 weeks or less if you are lucky

Nobody twisting anyones arms to go on these raids and you can make a suit thats completely arti-less.  Now-a-days most steps that may say BG may actually be do-able by a simple group so they can be done at your convenience.  And theyre no different from C05 and Utgard, just more of them.

I personally lead arty raids each week and I can cover 2-3 in about an hour therefore giving 40-50 peple credit they never had.  Nothing stressful about it and it's not exactly taking out on precious game time since it's in the game.

Keep in mind that the population on Gareth may look bigger on the server pick screen but look at the #'s carefully.  5 servers are clustered together so if you do the math that actually about the same.

I'm not dissing on classic so dont get me wrong.  I play Alb gareth sometimes and I love the anti-buffbot idea.  Personally I wish they would do that on more servers.  Also don't worry about not having a buffbot.  I dont carry a second account but each time I go into RVR someone in my /as always has buffs to spare.

I actually stopped playing DaoC for awhile because of the ToA raiding stuff (and played world of Borecraft in the meantime). Just about a month ago, my friends and guildies convinced me to come back for the reasons Yaros mentioned.
And i have to say, the ToA part of the game has gotten a helluva lot better now.
We did all ML group steps for ML 1,2,4,6 and 8 in just under three hours.
This sunday, we're planning the ML 5 groupsteps and we expect them to take an hour or two.
I'd have to agree with Yaros on this...it goes way faster nowadays.
So, to keep a long story short: don't get impressed by those who whine that ToA is a b**ch, because that part of the game has really gotten easy-mode nowadays.
