Thoughts about it but steep learning curve compared to other games that spoon feed these days..
"If you do buy one of the new level 100 Heroic characters, you’ll start out in Shard’s Landing, with access to all portals. Your gear and access to any class and choices of skills will make things easier to get started"
Was lost at level 1, imagine being level 100 ( heroic?? ) and still having not a clue.. good for existing I am sure
what is the level cap as of right now? I mean let just say you buy level 100 char, how many more level you have to level up to catch up with current player?
Enough are playing it for the company to still be developing the game and selling expansions for it. That beats out a lot of games that came out after.
A fair bit of players still play Everquest even on P99 where I still play occasionally. It's not unusual to find enough people playing in Everquest that actually has more players than Everquest 2
Still love the game at lower levels, but the ability bloat is insane in this one. Got on a heroic one time, saw I had ten bars full of abilities and quit....because I knew my then comfortable 2 bars I had for my level 30ish would eventually be the mess I just saw on the heroic character. Fk that. Dumbest shit I've seen in an MMO.
If anyone knows the difference between Russian oligarchs and the mob please let me know

The current EQ1 level cap is 120. So, even if you buy a level 100 character, there's still a lifetime of grinding to really catch up.
I am (and a lot of regulars are) not really happy about the decision to sell the lvl 100s for now. With most of my characters between 65 and 80, a level 100 upgrade would save me lots and lots of tedious grinding... which I'd still be looking at in order to catch up to any raid guild, if I could find one that suited me.
A new level 100 character would also miss out on any of the interesting progression paths through older content. If the EQ1 level 100 character works the same as the EQ2 level 85 character (which was even free), then your character will have level 0 in all skills. Prepare to spend several days to familiarize yourself with the new content.

Subscription numbers are 66K plus from what I remember on one of the companies reports. 82k Monthly Active Users. https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/eq1-numbers-revealed.271988/
