    Skyrim was the game that introduced me to The Elder Scrolls (I knew about Morrowind, but never played it, only looked over people's shoulders when they did), it was the game that introduced me to Morrowind and I grew to despise Skyrim for how dumbed-down everything in it was. It made me dislike dragons, Vikings, northern landscapes and pretty much everything Skyrim stands for.

    So this game being described as "pixel Skyrim" for me is a very poor choice of words. Like the developers don't even think highly of their own project. But in a way, I respect them for being honest with themselves at least, not that I'm in any way interested in their game... Unlike this MMORPG Scars of Honor, which is literally a WoW clone, but the developers are so full of it that they pretend like they're making something new and unique and take themselves really seriously when absolutely everything about their game is a WoW clone - world layout, races, factions, art style.

    I think I'm a sucker for pixel art RPGs, will definitely keep a look out for this. Calling it Pixel Skyrim doesn't really mean much to me though; Skyrim had a lot of aspects that could be emulated (open world, classless design, tons of quests/side quests, etc.), not all of which are individually beloved. I get that some find Skyrim to be underwhelming compared to some of the of Elder Scrolls games (or other open world RPGs), but it really is the most mainstream of those games and its breadth of release went a long way to bring more people into that style of RPG.

    Cool that they plan to allow modding - I could see a lot of fun in expanding the gameplay of a pixel RPG like this.

    IMO it's actually pretty bold to release a pixel graphics game in 2022 and beyond. You're basically declaring to the gaming world that you are so confident in your game design that people are going to love your game in spite of it having circa 1980s graphics. The only other option is that you're declaring to the gaming world that you're an incompetent game dev that can't program in a 3d environment in spite of all the engines, tutorials, and classes available to learn how.

    At this point in time it's more about "style" than being capable. It's also very possible that they just don't have the budget to create a full 3d game so they look at what they can do and work with that.

    There are so many people who do prefer game play over "graphics." Personally, I'm an "art design" person. As long as the art design is compelling then it's fine.

    I strongly disagree.

    If you are a in small dev team or a solo dev, you might want do 2D or 3D depending on your art skills.

    The problem is not programming, the problem is asset producing.

    And yes, like mentioned Sovrath, after there is the style concern.

    Not perfect but I think you might enjoy it. I include a level appropriate character in the oldrim version.

    I'm curious, but I really hope there will be more than just incredibly bland 'human' customizations.
    And no, cookie-cutter elves, dwarves, halflings and half-elves do not count as 'interesting' to me.

    Yeah I have no issues with pixel art for me it is all about gameplay.

    I mean I even play games with static art like Stranger in Sword City where the enemies don't move they have like one different graphic for when they attack and back to being static and I have I think easily 70 hours in it. Very compelling game.

    Looks more like a 2D turd.

    I'm so tired of lazy, old school, garbage graphics games being released this day and age.

    I've had more than my fill of old school throwbacks. There is just no reason to make games with 8 bit graphics today.

    They've already brought in over 300% of what they asked for...

    Do something about the trash graphics or I DEFINITELY pass.
