Can you guys stop stealing our homework? We posted this https://mmorpg.gg/mmos-2023/ a week ago. This has happened many times now.
As if these lists were an original type of article lol.
Yeah, a quick google search for "biggest upcoming MMOs" lists just about every gaming site with a 2022/2023/20?? list. MMORPG.com was on the search with their 2022 list that came out in January, so it's really hard to say who was first. Doesn't really matter, either.
A quick search of all of their front page articles brings up lists that were already done by someone else this year. Please, mmorpg.copycat.gg, please don't copy other people's homework.
All this list did was make me realize why I haven't been on this site in months. I'll just keep playing EverQuest, SWG R3 and City of Heroes Homecoming.
You could probably leave for years only to come back and still be seeing the same lists with games that will never come out.
Whole lot of nothing to look forward to and nothing you will miss and it's been this way for years.
Camelot Unchained...
You might as well include Chronicles of Elyria with a straight face. This is so laughable and pathetic at this point. You could easily replace Chamelot Unchained with pretty much any upcoming MMO too. Especially any kickstarter/crowd funder one that has been in development for almost a decade...
What a joke.

Nothing on the list looks like it'll be interesting to me. Luckily I expect to be busy in 2023 with FFXVI and Diablo 4. I just HOPE they don't come out close together, or like both at the end of the year. I have a few switch titles and 100 steam games to clean up if nothing else
It doesn't really matter what's on this list. It's let me down too often. I'll just wait to see what comes. My poor emotional hype meter has been at max too long...too often. It's broken now and I don't feel like repairing it.

My money is on Gamespot or the old VN boards having done it first but it was probably "Top 4 MMOs coming in 2002 and beyond" featuring AC2, SWG, WOW, and EQ2

Soulframe has me very interested. I realize that's just a cgi movie, not anything in game or even in engine, but if they're going to take the time and money to put together a trailer of that quality, they're taking the game seriously. Also, I enjoy Warframe until you get to the grind your eyeballs out part. The gameplay itself is fantastic.
Another game that you should keep your eyes on that isn't in this list is The First Descendant. If you like Warframe that game will be right up your alley.

One thing to keep in mind with Ashes, at least currently the plan is to only have pvp servers with high ganking penalties (I guess similar to BDO). I know that's a pain point for some regardless of the 'penalties' (myself included).

It's amazing that Star Citizen didn't make that list with all the hype surrounding the game, especially considering the titles listed. Is it just me or is safe to say that Squadron 42 and Star Citizen can be chalked up to vaporware since there is no end in sight? Don't burn me too harshly tin foil hat defenders.
I don't think it is vaporware, you can buy, and play the game right now even if it is not finished. I do believe it will eventually get an official release just when it "who knows".
I don't believe they will just close up shop like say Chronicles of Elyria did which is indeed vaporware.
However I highly doubt we will be able to play any of these games in 2023.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
It's not my kind of game, I like scifi, but not flight simulator types. I did try it though, a few years back. I remember thinking that it was pretty damn cool. I wonder if it is still gonna have that 'wow' factor after being in development so long. Graphics and stuff have come a long way. At the time, it seemed ahead. Is it still 'ahead?' '
I am SO sick of hearing about up and coming games.
When in the hell is a decent MMORPG going to be out NOW?!
Well, hate to point out the obvious, but "decent" is an opinion. I could enumerate the list of MMOs that have healthy populations and are financially profitable and argue that those at least "decent", but clearly from your statement you don't consider them as such. Since we have MMOs that are still up and running that were launched at the dawn of MMO history such as the original EverQuest, Shadowbane, or DAoC ,and more modern MMOs that are successful such as EVE, WoW, WoW Classic, FFXIV, ESO, or Black Desert, and clearly you consider none of these as "decent", then I'm afraid that for you the answer is never. There will never be a game that meets your impossibly high standards to even be "decent" much less good or excellent. You should probably move on. Maybe single player games are more your thing. Maybe a hobby outside of gaming all together is your thing. It must suck to be constantly dissatisfied. Life is too short for that.
Always nice to see more games on the horizon, if some of them actually make it to release in 2023, i may even give them a try, all depends on their monetisation methods honestly, i am not a fan of p2w at all, which means i probably will not get involved with archeage 2, i am okay with cosmetic only cash shops, pandering to players desires and making money in the process, count me in. Good graphics with smooth combat animations, decent player counts (100+) team dynamics mattering, all great things, just don't make me play on my own with cutscenes galore, i want to play, not watch, even better i want to play with 'lots' of others, one of the reasons i like planetside 2, where you can be as heroic (and short lived) as you like, being a part of a team where your presence matters, as does everyone else's, is a huge amount of fun, after all if we are not having fun playing, then why play at all?
Let's hope that Riot continues with their, honestly, smash hits. If that MMO is anywhere near LoL or Arcane...yes! And if they're smart, they'll set it up as Demacia vs Noxus.
All they needed to do was improve the graphics and maybe make a few slight changes to the zones for EverQuest classic. There's no reason to make a new game when all they have to do is revamp the old ones.

I hope it is. It's way easier/quicker to read than Zorvan's usual blahblahblah, and this one actually had some funny entries that made me chuckle.
Was thinking the exact same thing. Yet I clicked on it anyhow...

Love Minecraft. And check out my Youtube channel OhCanadaGamer
Try a MUD today at http://www.mudconnect.com/I had a look through the site, I saw an article that looked interesting:
"Ultima Online Review: Is It Worth Playing in 2022?"
But when I clicked on it the link was dead. I am not having a go here, this is exactly the sort of thing I would point out to the MMORPG.com staff.
