Chains of Promathia expansion

in Final Fantasy XI
Due to incompetence at Gamestop and perhaps a lack of preparation on my end, I was sold the orignal Final Fantasy XI release for PC that includes the Rise of the Zilart expansion on CD-ROMs, not the newer DVD version with both expansions.

I feel cheated, however, how important is the Chains of Pormathia expansion?  Important enough to try to argue my way into a refund to get the version they should be selling?

I am a completely new player and this if my first install of FFXI.

Please help asap, if I'm going to attempt to return this I need to do it soon.

    If you can return it, I'd do so. Can you play the game without Chains of Promathia? Frankly, yes, you can level to 75 and complete your character without CoP. Will you miss out on a ton of really awesome and challenging content? Also yes. I think you should make an effort to get it. If you can't return your copy of FFXI, go ahead and get the DVD version (the Vana'diel Collection, it's called, use that name and you'll get the whole shebang). While standalone copies of CoP can still be had, the fact is you can get the Vana'diel Collection for no more than what a standalone copy of CoP would cost you: Amazon charges about $20 for either.

    Thanks for the reply.  Luckily I was able to get ahold of the same person that sold me the game, and she admitted fault in not offering me the latest version. 

    After this quick install of CoP I will be on my way to making my first FFXI character... now one choice remains... White Mage primary or Black Mage primary!! Oh no :)


    ps. Sorry for double posted topic, I've been getting errors all over the place on these forums tonite.
