Is WoW even still worth playing after all these years? I feel like Blizzard is paying MMORPG to prominently display WoW in the popular games list and elsewhere so its hard to tell how active and relevant it still is compared to newer titles.

No its not. FFXI, ESO and others have far more players. WoW has been away from top 1 spot fo a few years now mate.

They only do that due to ffxiv doing the same (before them) and to try to sell more DF addons Pretty desperate attempt.

I tried logging into my WoW account recently only to find it had been banned. I assume it was hacked or something.

I might poke around just to try the new class, but I'm not getting suckered back into this game. Here's how it always goes for me and WoW.

    1. Start the new xpac full of hope and expectation
    2. Enjoy the story line content up to the new max level
    3. Start running the normal dungeons
    4. Get geared up enough to start doing the heroic dungeons
    5. Realize I managed to yet again pick the absolute worst class for my role according to the current meta (it's a talent of mine)
    6. Reroll for the current meta and get back to step 4.
    7. Realize I really don't have the time or desire to work on heroics or raiding.
    8. Quit

It's just easier to fast forward to step 8.

Just for some context on how troubling mmorpg player number tracking is just in general; do you know what someof the aggregates that are used? "Social media posts, likes, dislikes, Twitch streams, etc"

Let that sink in for a minute; mmo population websites actually use social media presence of a game in question to gather some of it's in-game player estimate.... that's just.... so problematic in so many ways.

Hackers got my acct locked after Warlords of Draenor & I just can't be bothered to jump through the hoops to get it back.

Yea.... Thanks for an offer, Blizzard, but no. In this game you're still just a low-detailed, cartooney "comical relief" character in a tiny static world filled with dumb AI monsters which you mindlessly bash while listening to your favorite add-on telling you when to move to avoid next pre-scripted attack from those dumb AI enemies. And that's not what I find entertaining for me anymore.

IMO Wow hasn't been good since BFA. I am one of the few who liked BFA. <SHOCKING I KNOW>
I wish they would combine servers a bit. I'm tired of my server's low population. Free transfers would be better!

According to that site, TERA is in 35 and Wildstar is in 42 spot. You know, games that are shut down? Dead games? I bet the site runner is a democrat. :D

to be fair that is only based on total players of the game all-time, so thats possible

Why would anyone give a crao about a weekend on an ancient game? If it was a week or two I may have had a look but a couple of days? Not worth peoples time even to install.

I dont remember what expansion it was, but I did a free trial for a week.....It wasn't the same game I knew.....Just not fun....What I ran into with WoW is that they tried too hard to entertain me, instead of building a game where I make my own entertainment.
