Not sure about everyone else, but Robin is waist-deep in plans for the Dragonflight launch. Expansion launches are always an exciting time, but not everything always goes to plan. With this in mind, let's cover some of the basics in preparation.

Here is how I planned to prepare: cancel sub, wait for season four to resub when the expansion has matured.

Doesn’t matter. WoW/blizz fatigue has killed all my desire to play a new WoW expansion. I need to see how things go in a year from now before I decide to throw more time and money on WoW.

Yes, well let's see, I last cancelled my sub about 6 weeks after Shadowlands launched. Haven't renewed since. I think I'm prepared.

So far it seems like yes, a lot of the changes they've made are in response to player feedback. There's no barrowed power, they've brought back talent trees similar to what we had before, and a lot of progression is account bound so you won't have to redo as much on alts.

What we don't know is how this will playout. A big piece of how an expansion feels over all is pace of content after launch. They have said they are planning on faster content cycles but there's no way to know until we get into it.

For the first time I will be skipping this expac and waiting to see the feedback in a month or two. Lost the itch for wow - and I am quit sad about it. but hey life goes on.

You prepare for "today's launch" by realizing the vast majority of your patrons aren't going to be able to play it until tomorrow.

100% this. Even IF, and we all know that if is just a thought exercise, but even IF Dragonflight was the best expansion for WoW to date, there is absolutely no point anymore in playing WoW until the final patch of an expansion anyway, since each patch absolutely invalidates all the content besides leveling that came before it.

While I agree in a mental 'progressive' term. But if you are only there for the end game, why play anyway (at least until final patches). While it doesn't validate current content, for the most part, playing to play, and doing ANY content is still forward momentum on any character/realm. I find myself doing some current content, and attempting to bring alts up to main content/full blown.. trying to make them my main. Not doing new content doesn't make old content bad. I'd rather have a reason to do new content, while also, questing, searching, and finding.. new things I don't have unlocked.
