As the new year approaches, many of us take the time to look back on the year that was. For some of us, we look back on those games that might have captured our attention at one point, but we really, really fell off of as the year went on. Is there an MMO that you fell off of in 2022 that you're hoping to hop back into in 2023?

Nope. I played New World for a bit, but got to end game, calculated the grind, looked at my list of life priorities and just decided to move on. To be fair I would come to the same place with any MMO currently out, so I don't see it as a negative commentary on New World. Rather it's a fundamental impedance between me wanting to do something of significance in life and MMOs whose whole design is around getting you to play a video game for as much time as humanly possible which is sort of the direct opposite of doing something of significance.

I'd like to play Lost Ark, but localizations in the west sucks and playing KR is pain. No hope for 23 either tho.

"have got me feeling stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread"

A lot of MMORPG players end up feeling like this, but if you are in gaming media it is harder to do what we do...take a break. I have taken three (ish) from playing MMOs and two from gaming all together in my time.

Bought the latest LotRO expansion for the new starter experience so I am about to get sucked back in. I always go back, have been since Beta.

Not an MMO, but plan on returning to FO76 to play through the most recent expansion once I'm done with NW.

No real urge to return to Lost Ark, think I'm done with it for good.

Every MMO I stopped playing gave me a "I really don't want to log in" feeling for a week or so before I quit.

The only one I quit without that feeling was ArcheAge because of a broken regrade loot mechanic that fed into the P2W category. They fixed that aspect and opened a fresh start server, which I quite enjoyed. I'm still playing even though the AAU fresh start ended. It really is a good game and I don't see a P2W option with the AAU servers, which is awesome.

I will probably jump back into WAR RoR at some point this year.

I have never made it to rank 80 and full sovreign gear (the highest), I always get put off by the horrendous vertical progression combined with the unpredictable gear acquisition. However, the sovreign armour for the black orc is the best armour set in any game, ever! I want it!

I currently have a rank 63 black orc, so im not too far away. I know it's gonna be a grind, but I've wanted that armour set since 2008, so I think this might be the year I get it done.

Beyond that, I doubt I'll play any other MMOs. None of the new ones look appealing, the old ones I've already played and left. The only chance an old game has of pulling me back is if LotRO did a classic server, but we've been told multiple times that'll never happen. I may get tempted again by an SWG emulator but my experiences haven't been great when I tried them before.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman

I mean it's been awhile since I played FFXIV.  They aint changing their single player to group content (I personally feel it's its only real discrepency).  Wow, is a neverending series of dailies  that aren't even daily anymore (wait 3-4 days.... for a couple of dalies now......).  ESO, still has great content, with lackluster tracking, (and for us ocds....... it takes us weeks to get out of an area).  Project Gorgon has been a joy lately, but it has huge issues in information display and ui (WTF am I fighting.... Can I kill it ???????).. and coh, while a hugely old game has its issues (old, no players........... emulated).
New World desperately needs a crafting revamp( I've said it before, I'll say it again, stop tier 1 reqs from tier3- onwards).  Neverwinter and Guild Wars 2 are becoming prey to bloat.  TRIM the SHIT and allow us to actually play the game (I'll throw Black Desert in here too.)
BDO needs a freaking streamlined questing/area system though, cause it has WAY too much content bloat.  Spend 2000 hours and you won't even reach half the map.  (Gimme a singleplayer campaign I can cheat in and play on my own.  Pure Gold).....

I left ESO at the end of the summer but I'm sure I'll be back at some point this year.

New World is holding my attention longer than I thought it would.
