There is zero sign that Amazon is going to throw in the towel.
Server mergers actually indicate that they are actively managing things and have plans going forward,
Even if they were losing money on the game (and I doubt that they are) it's not like they can't afford to keep running at a loss for as long as they want.

Hi Mr. Bezos, how are you doing? Still making your employees bring their own diapers to work?
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
Didnt they just open several new servers not too long ago? This game has been a circus with the opening and closing of servers. As for Amazon shutting down the game? Not likely. They get their money up front. Its not like they have subs to rely on where the dwindling player base would be a major factor.

For the record, Bezos stopped running Amazon quite some time ago.

anyone who needed to clear that up is definitely Jeff Bezos xD

Most agree they aren't making much money in this game, might even be losing.
I've played almost daily since early October when I purchased NW for $20 on a Steam Sale.
Might buy a 2nd account just so I can level again with a different build, $20 until Tuesday I think.

The game is a hot mess. I really wanted this game to be great . Amazon just failed and will continue to fail in whatever game it ruins next . lost ark is garbage too ....
Graphics and world and sound are all great great. Too bad other things, like the game breaking bugs, trash laughable character creation, and sloppy management outweigh the good.
Yeah not a good sign.. they opened some new servers with the last big patch my guess is they didn't see the come back they was hoping for, this is a game that is at a point when trying a F2P model might help it.

Like that's "helped" any game before, what they need to do is close the game do an overhaul and relaunch.

Naw, they can overhaul it in flight which they currently are doing, no need to shut it down.
People who have never seriously played the game shouldn't be leading the charge to close and relaunch.
As a more casual PVE player I've experienced no significant issues with the game, well except for the fact my fire staff mage is considered very undesirable by the meta focused pick up raiders, which I'm never going to be part of anyways.
Hopefully they'll give my skills some love one day, but if not I can always skill up the current melee meta build and join in.

Funny story, I've spent the least amount of money on New World ($20) while having just as much, if not more fun than my last three GaaS games, Lost Ark, ($225), ESO, ($500) and FO76, ($100).
Many players agree, AGS needs to find better ways to monetize the game unless of course making a big profit isn't really the driver behind supporting the game's future development.

Tons of people playing this. If this wasn't a pvp centric game, I think the servers would be left alone. I would also suggest they are continueing to push Lumberyard limits and want as many as possible on each server node.
Pretty game built on terrible code. They had all the money in the world at their disposal and produced a mess, every patch comes with new dupe exploits, they released a AAA game which allowed HTLM scripts to be run in ingame chat.
I dont see any longevity in this game outside of someone using Amazons cash to keep it running to avoid embarrassment

You realize you're talking about the same company which funded launching Jeff Bezos's penis shaped rockets into space for tourism, right? Something tells me keeping New World online with financial brute force isn't much of a strain for them.

I am hardly leading the charge, but I do think it would be a better long term solution, that said just about anything would be better than going F2P.
What do you put your experience down to? We have had loads of people, not just on here going on about issues. Is it the casual, new server, individual playstyle?

I see your point, but when I play a game everything else goes on hold, so I always try to make absolutely sure it is for me before I play. I can see why some would think that's too fussy, its just how I game. Also while NW obviously a AAA, I bought a couple of indie games the other year and despite my "full proof" system ended up binning them, that was the first time that has ever happened! Once bittern twice shy.
They are still improving, at some point this year I likely will try it out, though to you I am sure it seems I have procrastinated forever.

Not really sure, perhaps it's a matter of when some folks played New World, it certainly has changed tremendously since launch in terms of QOL improvements which I'd say appear to have mostly been for the better.
Could be the game has more visible problems once folks get into the higher end raids which my friends and I haven't done yet, but I've not read many complaints in global chats if that's the case.
PVPers whine alot, but when don't they? I know they are possibly the most impacted by reported dupping issues but I've not had any discernable impact from them.
What's interesting is whenever I complete an achievement the numbers are terribly skewed by the games initial huge launch success compared to the population since.
Its always saying that I'm one of only 6.9% or so of gamers who've completed something and in most cases it isn't any great achievement, mostly just a matter of longevity than actual performance.
I'm not saying the game is fantastic, if I was more of a rusher I'd probably have burned out sooner, but as for it having a lot of issues right now my friends and I certainly haven't seen many at this time.
