Latest Chronicles Of Elyria Update States Kingdoms Of Elyria: Settlements Will Be Launched This Year | MMORPG.com

In the first update of 2023, Chronicles of Elyria's developer Jeromy Walsh states that the work on Kingdoms of Elyria, and by extension Chronicles of Elyria, is still humming along, despite being the only dedicated developer on the project now. However, despite this, Walsh states that the Kingdoms of Elyria: Settlements project will be released by the end of this year.

It looks like they did, this is going to one of those few times when I don't question if a ban was needed. I would not even wish him on Reddit, even they deserve better.

At this point this is a known scam and it says a lot about you guys still covering it at all.

Even telling people this fraudulent hack took 8 million dollars and delivered nothing is beating the urn the dead horses ashes are in.

The fact that he is doing his "One man Development Studio" shtick and not locked up for fraud is the real story here.

I'm thinking that if someone can be offended by the straight telling of gaming news including several informative disclaimers about the developer's past it is probably more telling about them than the gaming news site's writers and editors.

Perhaps one day maybe Netflix will produce an expose on the many gaming related kick starter and crowdfunding failures, particularly MMORPGs over the years and the COE / Jeromy Walsh saga can be featured prominently.

Of course Chris Roberts and Star Citizen will probably be the headliner in the narrative after it reaches $1B in donations and probably still no released game even then.

Garrott, Jacobs, the list goes on of developers who mislead, lied or were totally delusional around their ability to deliver what they promised, how much it would really cost and certainly by when games might be delivered.

Some practically invented the concept of the "rug pull" long before it became named so and fashionable in the crypto space.

And no, small disclaimers stating that there was a high degree of uncertainty doesn't excuse the lack of good faith by these well seasoned veterans. I can actually be more forgiving of Devs who went in who actually knew very little on what they were attempting, but only a little.

But the real story won't be the developers themselves, but how customers could let themselves get taken in so readily, for so much and for so long, even after it became clear the chances of the games actually being delivered as promised were nearing zero.

Believe it or not, 12 backers actually upvoted Jeremy's posting of this report on Kickstarter.

It also appears all comments on the Kickstarter page after the posting of the update are being deleted, though previous ones remain.

I disagree. The real story is the fraudster. People get taken in all the time. Stupidity, too much good will, delusional hope, just being old and giving a credit card number out to some scam company that calls.

Just because someone is stupid or trusting or gullible does not mean they deserve to be taken advantage of or lied to. In fact I think they should be the ones who are protected.

These people have been completely ripped off.

If a gaming site is going to cover this at this point all they should be highlighting is how much of a total fraud this guy and his company is. I honestly question if this is even "gaming news" when there is no actual game.

Agreed, the reason he's trying to "release" something sooner rather than later is he's trying to find a way to get the revenue stream flowing again.

He's previously stated he would be looking into crypto / NFT 's though I doubt he's got the smarts to pull off a scam in that space.

Ahh, but didn't you read the dev blog, everything in the single player game directly carries over to the MMO.

In fact, Jeromy doesn't even consider it as a separate game, just the early release of one module of COE.

A year ago a single noobie game dev remade Kingdoms of Elyria in 5 days. This is how much of a hack Jeromy Walsh is. He is using this "game" as a cover to not get sued into oblivion.

It's more of a cover for stealing 8 million dollars than it is a single-player colony sim.
