Embers Adrift  will hold a free weekend from January 27-29th. The subscription-based game will be able to try out for free, and Stormhaven Studios is planning some events around the promotion.

    People are making fun of Pantheon for how it looks, but if this is a fully released MMO in the modern day with a subscription maybe people should be careful about casting glass stones.

    Yes, Graphics are not everything, but lately they help immensely with first impressions...for better or worse.

    My personal opinion is that it should've been at the max b2p and no sub for at least until actual launch to get more people in the door. Honestly if someone has to pay for a sub and box price for 'old school,' they have better options for a sub alone, like classic wow and eq 1/2 timelocked servers just to name some.

    They did some prior to release as well, so I wouldn't read too much into them doing more of the same. It seems their marketing approach of choice.

    the good side, you just need 6 players to make a full group and run the game ^^

    dunno about population atm but it's a niche game.

    i got interrest at launch but B2p+sub was just a no as i got ff14 already and another game.

    the very con if there's no paywall: the "i hit a mob and i got the time to clean my house before it died" lack of some nervous move

    Well those I would says are more akin to the Unborn.
    Embers has been born but it's gasping.  I'll hop back in during the test and see how it's coming along.

    I just looked at Twitch. There are literally 0 streamers at this moment. Earlier today there was the paid shill "Elloa" streaming it, but even that paid shill's stream had very few people interested in watching it. There are much more people streaming and watching original Everquest, despite Everquest having much worse graphical fidelity.

    This game is done for by now, and no amount of "free weekends" or recruitment of more Twitch shills will help it in any meaningful way.

    Elloa is their community manager. It's part of her job to be publicly enthusiastic about the game. I don't see how that counts as shilling for it, unless you see all community managers to be doing so in the course of their work.

    Quite possibly, though I don't know if that state will be so easily cured as in the Princess Bride.
