While "problems which affect most players" is a good way to work out what bugs to address first, it is a bad way of working out what new content to make first or how to balance combat. Players always think they know best, anyone with a couple of MMOs under their belt should know that's not always the case.

A piecemeal approach is not the best way to develop in my eyes either, I am not saying AGS want to do that, but that's what they may be pushed into doing. If AGS want to do more PvE now and that's all, then that's what they should do, I would say the same if they seemed to be saying it was just going to be PvP on the roadmap. Give them the time to bring in fully fledged new content not half of this and half of that.

Also they seemed to have sussed you guys only tip others to use light armour so watch out. :)

I don't have a lot of trust in David Verfaillie's (the guy on the right) design philosophy especially when he's talking about more light armor nerfs for "risk v. rewards" purposes.

The game has a very heavy "bruiser" DPS bias and has always treated magic users as second-class citizens.

Healers especially (I am one) have had their healing heavily nerfed and then brought back up a bit, not quite up to where they were pre-nerf, to bare bones utility by giving light armor a +30% outgoing healing buff.

They are pigeon-holed in light armor with no viable option for using any other kind of armor and light armor in New World means you better not miss the timing of your roll dodge or you're dead against any boss or mini boss.

Fire staff and Ice Gauntlet mages are also forced to use light armor for the +20% damage that they need just to do a small fraction of the damage that physical ranged (bows and muskets) players can do and with much shorter range as well as without the magnified aiming than the physical ranged players get.

I put the gross imbalances in NW squarely on Dave.

Well, I don't really have a dog in the hunt since I'm not currently playing, but my understanding is that bow and musket are about single target DPS and fire staff and ice gauntlet are about AOE. If you look at the abilities for each I think that's true. It's pretty common to balance out aoe by having it do less damage because it hits multiple targets. Yeah in a duel AOE loses out but in a dungeon it typically wins big time. Without actual DPS numbers combined with the context of the type of encounter, claiming something is over or underpowered is just hearsay.

I don't know about musket but bows have plenty of AOE. 4 out of 6 of its skills are in fact AOE.

I play bow/rapier on one of my alts and my expedition build is all about AOE.

And bow does at least 50% more damage than fire staff... no exaggeration.

In fact, currently, PUGs don't accept fire mages for mutated expeditions. It's that bad lol.

If they really wanted to do something meaningful about the bots, all they would have to do is set themselves up outside of the settlements. It's ridiculously easy to see which characters are bots and which aren't. Especially outside of Everfall. There's a steady stream of bots coming and going there, and they all try to harvest the same nodes right outside the gates, whether they've spawned or not.
