EVE Online has had a great end of 2022 thanks to the success of their recent Uprising expansion. But can CCP Games ride that momentum into the third decade as EVE celebrates 20 years this year?

I remember when my first MMORPG, Earth & Beyond, was being sundowned. Many people were saying they would go to EVE. I looked into it and a FFA PvP wasn't for me. I'm glad it's still active and hope people there are still having fun.

As a.... prospective player. Most of this is Ad hoc. I'ts the same, that's been the same, that is the same. New .... 'stuff' doesn't change the game. I've... been with the game since its founding and I go out now as complaining. Recently done a full reinstall and the ui alone caused me to yell at the devs, what is going on. I recently started SWTOR again, and it is the same. HUGE menus, in your face, with a ui that does little to make the game.... (I'd say accessable but who cares now). The (any) game needs to be .......... Face value playable. Don't send me to wikis, or guides. I mean seriously....
The.... best games now, have huge wikis and gameplay that's only for.
I mean I'll keep trying same as I have over the years but it is far too pvp, far to spreadsheet rather than game (and either would be good, but combined .... pvp is.........)....

As long as CCP manage to deliver 2 decent expansions (their 2023 roadmap) this year then yes, they can expect players to continue playing.

It really isn't FFA PvP. There are sectors in space where you can PvP and some where it's much, much more difficult. You can do quite a bit and never fight another person.

I think the current 'biggest' problem with Eve is the subscription, i am not suggesting the game goes even further F2P than it already is, instead, in order to try and keep profitable CCP seems to have gone the route where they charge Omega account holders even more to subsidize the alpha's who pay nothing, huge mistake. I started playing the game back in February of 2004, last year, i just stopped, because frankly, if i have to effectively pay a 'double' sub then i'd rather use that money on 2 other games.

I was a high to null sec hauler for years and I wish this was more true. Players just get junk tackle ships to kill you before Concord pops them and their friend grabs your loot. It is almost less likely to run into hostiles in null due to how spread out it is.

Yeah half my guild went over there and in a month most of them left. Eve will never die because it's unique and players can treat each other like crap and it's ok to do.

EvE has no real competition, that is a recipe for success in any kind of MMO, unless you want to think NMS or Elite is somehow a parallel which I can't see. Maybe SC will cause it problems in 2030 when it comes out. ;)
