They asked everyone to come to the PTR and play in a war then they forgot to turn off the new maximum company members/mercenaries ratio requirements that are currently in the live servers.
Totally self-inflicted...

It is a genuine mistake, but it does point to a lack of thoroughness on their part; however they did own it and not try to pretend it was something else. I think the game has bigger fish to fry than this really and they showed last year that they are on their way to doing so.
It's a PTR... why are people insisting on "answers." LOL. Entitled brats these days.
Well after TWO failed attempts now, at some point you have to ask WTF is really going on here. I mean really how the f**k do you plan a WAR event and forget to turn off a limitation YOU put in place. The lead dev over the whole PVP mess should have known this, because he approved it and made it happen. They can't even remember what they are putting into and doing to their own dam game, so it's no wander there are dupes and hacks out the Wahoo for this game.
While not in game development I've witnessed similar situations which generally occur when development is silo'd into separate teams who rarely, if ever interact with each other.
So they are all unaware of how features recently employed might impact their own upcoming development.
Communication is always a big challenge in any larger organization which is a responsibility of the producers to review the overall big picture to identify gaps and conflicts.

I can understand trying to see the positives in things.
But defending the dev teams incompetency at this point is something else entirely.

I am not, they have been incompetent, in fact I could go back to the launch and start mentioning mistakes from there onward. But the bigger picture for me is the work they did last year, if they can do that again I may well jump in at the end of the year.
Pretty sure this has nothing to do with New World....
As for the screw-up, kind of like sending an email and forgetting the attachment I guess. Mistakes happen, just seem to be a lot of them with these devs.

Maybe they should rethink the layoffs.....
These days if people don't have "opinions" you should send them to a doctor to check for a pulse.
