People still falling for the A$$es of Scama$hit BS.....copium addicts in denial even after seeing how the "game" they are being shown is nothing but a limited tech demo that looks like it was made for the PS2. They have no funding for a proper mmorpg with senior/experienced staff to put together what they claim to deliver, an S tier mmorpg experience....which would need a minimum of 300 million dollars. A tech demo showing clunky/stiff combat is meaningless if you have no clue about the direction of your game's lore and haven't even bothered with writing one and creating a trailer for it. Looks like it is being created by a bunch of amateur volunteers working for free to get something on their resume. Steven needs to stop paying loud mouth streamers and content creators to shill and to over hype it, keeping people's hopes up by pretending that things are OK when the game will not be even 5% of what they are promising.

Well the graphics don't look bad, that's a plus for a CF but it is a long time coming.

@Saruomo, well it's personal preference, of course and Stephen hasn't done anything to upset me like he has obviously done with you but AoC looks far more interesting than many of the games on that list. At least they are trying something different. Will they deliver? Neither you or I can possibly know that but why such hate towards a game that is in development and regularly engages with its fans?

How are they trying something different when the guy has absolutely no clue or idea how to innovate which is evident in all the demos so far. He literally says it and so shamelessly that they are copying ideas from mainly Archeage, BDO, NW, and WoW taking what he says are the best parts of these games as if all there is to game dev is copy pasting the technical parts, fully ignoring the narrative, story telling elements, lore/cinematics enriched questing. They realized how it is impossible to deliver on all their fake promises so now they are saying we're just gonna release a sandbox for open world pvp lmao....what BS...why fool innocently naive gamers into paying 500 bucks for multiple alphas of a game that delivers zero of what's been announced/promised so far? This is thievery, a scam is what it is. They have stolen from hundreds of people. How does that not hurt? What about AoC that has been shown so far that looks "far more interesting" than the 50 games above? (40 in dev, and 10 released)

I have zero faith in community driven hype generated by paid shills and donations plus supposedly 30 millions of someone's own money....they already canceled a cash grab Ashes of Creation Battle Royale game when they saw it go from the super overly-hyped inflated numbers on Twitch to less than 10 people viewing a single stream by an internal tester plus 3 devs watching. Nobody with experience would ever work for Intrepid, a studio with zero experience in game dev leadership working under a spoiled gamer ex-millionaire with cash to waste on a hobby project that he hopes to turn into a cash cow milking business by playing on the emotions of gullible western gamers ready to throw cash at it due to the extreme levels of hype generated via empty promises and hate videos that has the same said shills shit on every other game to make AoC look like the "angel" infallible game that everyone loves before it even existing.

please dont let this be like starcitizen...i soo much miss an open world mmorpg sandbox too be immersed in.

Of all the kickstarters out there, this one seems to be the one that could atleast release, and not be below mediocre.

Also, for the interested, teh reason to migrate to UE5 is because from ue5 a few patches of the engine back, it allows for open world sizes more than 22square km before ue5, it now supports 88 square km. which will enable them to now put all these assets together and build the game.
no more excuses, i pray! :) edit, i worded it bad: before unreal 5 patch, the world with nodes only supported 22km. now it supports 88.

All mmorpgs borrow from other mmorpgs that has always been the case. Although in NW's case I think they borrowed some of Stephen's ideas. AoC is trying something different with the node system and how the world dynamics reacts to that, Cities can rise and fall, quests can be affected. It will be interesting how that plays out. It also has seasons which can effect the dynamics of the world too. Weather may exist in other mmorpgs but I don't think in the way Ashes tries to implement it. I could be wrong on that, I've not actually played every mmorpg.

The game has some lore but it is still under development and not based on any existing frachise so more lore can be created. But you only need light lore in an mmorpg really. The players can help create the rest and for me the more 'sandboxy' the better but I don't think it will be a full sandbox.

How have they stolen from people? They are obviously still actively developing the game. They have had their hurdles to overcome and no doubt will have more in the future but that doesn't make it a scam. The person who will lose the most if this project fails is Stephen and that would make him a very poor scam artists.

To me AoC looks far more interesting because not many games on that list look interesting to me so ergo AoC looks far more interesting. Thought that was obvious.

@Saruomo, you know that most of the financing comes from the the CEO himself, right?

Is that money from Xango he earned which was pyramid scheme that had all their patents revoked due to lawsuits regarding their scams ? https://www.businessforhome.org/2011/04/xango-review-2011/

He was selling juice which was to prevent hair loss, cancer etc

    or

he just said he invested millions into his game company which would be normal for him because hes pushing everything and anything to promote game but then he also said he doesnt like when game is hyped so...it is really confusing..

He tried a couple of scams already and one of them succeeded, one failed. The first game they released and almost immediately canceled on Steam due to being an utter failure which saw the biggest drop in Twitch viewer numbers in history. That was called Ashes of Creation Apocalypse. Then the scam that succeeded was the FOMO cosmestics being sold before the game even had a playable tech demo. That was called out by someone on their Reddit and suddenly all things related to selling cosmetics stopped and instead, a new scam started in the form of begging for donations to help kids despite originally saying they do not accept donations....what a show!

Do you have an actual source for that? Do you know how much was spent? How much was raised from the backers? If you do have that info please share. Because when I asked Stephen for that information on these forums he never answered.  Heck, I don’t think he ever came back.

If you don’t have that info then please stop spreading the statement.

The combat, from meditation breaks, not mowing though pack but instead being strategic with the pulls, class dependency, this is shaping up to taking away from games like Pantheon. I know many here say the games are very different but these are the core features people are looking for when they talk old school MMOs. IMO I think it looks great and what I am looking for in a MMO. Meaningful PvP to boot and its a big win for me. Cant wait to see what the Bard Gameplay will be like.

this is kinda a disrespect for bdo, imo bdo isnt a great game but it has the best combat between all mmos and i dont think there will be a game that will change my opinion but im hoping riot's mmo does

MMOs fall into 2 types of mobs. BDO where the NPC attacking you means very little danger. Where the fun is in felling like a God because you can pull 25 mobs and not worry. Personally I find that gets old fast. BDO could have the most fun combat system in all MMOs but it fails for me because its rare I feel at risk. So the win always feels shallow.

Ashes combat maybe (we dont know, all their systems are not in the game, like sub classes) not as flashy as BDO. But the mobs require thought and planning, people working together and knowing the roll they play in combat. BDO, almost any class can fill an empty slot in a team. So most classes comes down to combat being different because of your animations and partial effects.

For me, this does not make meaningful combat, just allot of party tricks. BDO does have different play styles but many classes overlap in that. Ashes with their sub classes will (if executed right) will have different play styles and combat flavors. Maybe as much as 64 options between the 8 core classes. Judging the combat now, saying BDO is better. Questionable.

Why do you suppose AAA studios sometimes force a game out too early?

Burn rates are real, every day in development is increasing the cost to create the game and delaying when it can start to bring in the projected revenues and profits.

Sometimes the patience to continue funding comes to an end, so management decides to cut their losses, get the game released to recover as much of the costs as they can then scale back the team and move on to other endeavors.
