World of Warcraft: Dragonflight launched right before the holiday season last year and we got tons of new content but the expansion cycle is far from over the roadmap for 2023 and has a lot of things that we are looking forward to. Something that Shadowlands couldn't get right was putting out a roadmap. Kanishka explains why he thinks this time around things are hopefully better.

So what are the odds on Mr. "There's no new content in DF" coming by to argue there's no new content in DF in spite of there clearly being new content in DF?

This site needs emoticons for News, much like on facebook, because I would really like to "LOL" on this article.

The Dragonflight expansion brought tons of content for veteran players. Like.. what? What tons of content are we talking about here?! UI change is not content. Neither is Talent Tree. Professions is..debatable. So please, tell me about this "tons of content" in Dragonflight.

    Thanks!

Trading post is big. Dragonriding is fun. World events are cool. New raid is pretty fantastic. New crafting system is complex and brings a new kind of dynamic around crafting where server reputation is important again. Solo Shuffle, despite a bit of a rocky start, is a great addition to the game. The story is much better than Shadowlands, which isn't saying a lot, but it's there for the lore folks. World content is a lot better for casual players, since you can really get decently geared just from killing rares / participating in events. Catch up mechanics for alts is pretty good. New cosmetic items as drops in the world is also nice. Talent trees are a kind of content for many people, since it's something to tinker with. It's nice to adjust some talents for specific raid encounters to optimize.

Also, it's probably the most alt-friendly it has ever been. WoW is in a MUCH better state than BFA and Shadowlands. There's room for it to grow, but the devs have been making a lot of the right moves.

It's not perfect (and it never will be), but it has made great strides with Dragonflight.

Trading post is .. ok, content I guess....for causals who likes to hunt for transmog and stuff. Dragonriding is .. not content. Fun..maybe for you. World Events are cool? You can't call this content, nor New Raids, New Dungeons, "New" Crafting, etc. Because this are Bound to WoW.

I was asking about Dragonflight "tons of content". Story is much better than Shadowlands? Is pathetic like the one from Shadowlands and BfA.

Yea, sorry. But I can't seems to find someone who can tell me "tons of content" and "tons of things to do" in DF. All I can see is "New Raids, New Dungeons, Old Content, Dragonflight, Crafting" which .. this are not ton of content, nor New Content.

Sorry, but DF is just like WOD.

Since WoW never has any content, what is content to you?  I really enjoyed WoD, Shadowlands and so far DF.

It has, but you can't call New Dungeons, New Raids, Crafting.... content to do in WoW since we had this day1.

I call CONTENT, Artifact Weapons, Class Halls, Legendaries, World Quests, Mythic+ which Legion had for THE very first time ever. This are ..content.

Even BfA had new content, such as WarFronts and Island Expeditions. Same with Shadowlands, The Maw and Torghast. Yes, badly implemented new content in this 2 expansions, but it was NEW.

There is literally zero ( 0 ) new content in DF.....beside Dragon fly , if you call that content, lol.

All you do in DF is M+ and that's literally it. And ..Raids if you are into it.

Why I'm Excited About World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's Roadmap for 2023...

because I was allegedly compensated for saying so. ALLEGEDLY...

This couldn't be the reason.... could it?!

Content is obviously a subjective term to individual tastes.

I enjoy the dragon riding alot for means of travel, far more interactive, its a new activity or at least a reskinned version of an activity that has me doing something and its fairly entertaining when going all over for world quests, at least to me :)

Raid's are a big thing in wow :c  That is content for the majority of players, whether you like that kind of thing or not.

You can also really sit back and think on the age of the engine the game runs on.  There's only so many things it can handle.

They will release more spoonfed speed as usual, and that's okay for the pacing of current content.

1 raid, 8 dungeons, 4 zones and a dragon that can't tank. Did I miss something?

I do like that they added a 3d element meaning water and caverns to the world. That shadowlands was ugly and uninspired. The zones are not cohesive.

Crafting levels and work orders are dumb. Currency tab with 100 different things is dumb.

    PvP downgearing is dumb.

Borrowed dragon flight is dumb. Imagine going back to your slow mounts now. I honestly would have enjoyed running the zones to get up to valdrakken better.

The soup event is mega fail.

    Primal invasions, too late.

Mythic level 20 means running the same dungeons over and over and over and over...... Just to get a higher tier of gear to run the same dungeon over and over. Not harder, just more gear.

Rf, normal, hard, mythic..... Same story. Lazy programming.

Confused as to why that isn't content in a PVE game.  What did it miss?

Honestly I have no loyalty to WoW, but it did add some new things.  You not considering new dungeons, raids, world quests, events etc, not new content applies to every mmo that is on the market o.o  You want fresh and new, throw out some idea's :pensive:

I'm not considered this .. New Content because this are the norm with every expansion.

    I throw out some...ideas above. Here :

I call CONTENT, Artifact Weapons, Class Halls, Legendaries, World Quests, Mythic+ which Legion had for THE very first time ever. This is..content.

Yes? That is NEW content, beside new class, which Legion also had, new raids, new dungeons, etc, etc, which again, is the norm in WoW.

    You welcome!

What specifically is it missing then that you consider a "ton" of new content?

A new zone I'm thinking but perhaps more, new class or race maybe?

So he would say this for any MMO then? Since you can point to another MMO and say that's not new content, it was in this game already... only the first mmo had tons of content.

Can't make em happy, no matter how much you throw at em.

Even though the new zones are all new content, the race/class is new content, trading post is new content, professions is a different take on content that's new in itself. Talent tree is a new content take on the old... blah blah blah But if anything i guess, MMO's don't really have anything new to them anymore. It tends to get boring playing any of them, cause I know I played similar in another game.

Trading post is yet another checkist of repetitive boring things to do. World events are boring and on a timer it is an hassle. New raid and dungeon are pretty basic. New crafting system is a good but complex addition and promote gold selling. reputation is ok but unrewarding. Pvp haven't got new content since age, talent trees are back and it is nice, dragonriding is fun ... That about it and feel pretty much dull

IceAge used to be a huge supporter of WoW and I recall the times he would argue with people here when they criticized the game. I wonder when he changed his mind about the game and why he changed his mind.

    Starting with BfA.

Coming after one of the best expansion in the history of WoW, Legion, BfA looked like a "We didn't had time to complete this expansions with decent features. Oh and .. we also took most of the good features from Legion and...simply deleted them so you will have way less things to do in this NEW expansion."

They didn't even had full voice-overs for their main campaign for fuck sake, at the beginning of BfA. It was a mess.

Then came Shadowlands to "fix" WoW.

This one was like a complete version of BfA. Complete version meaning to really complete how bad WoW have become. So BfA was not enough. They needed Shadowlands to come and show their worst.

And then here comes DF. With literally zero new content in the game. By this time, Legion was just a far memory, unreal to some degree. DF deletes the atrocities of "features" BfA and Shadowlands had and .. leave you with nothing. Basically they said : Lets ...give them Dungeons, Raids and some Huntings for fluff things like Cosmetics, Mounts, etc and call it an Expansion. Much like with WOD.

Yes, of course people will say that DF is "amazing", but this is thanks to the last 2 expansions, because they were so bad, that people now see this mediocre expansion as being "amazing".

If DF came after WoTLK, Legion or even MOP, it would of had the same fate as BfA and Shadowlands.

What ...bothers me are the whiteknights. The game has gone down, ever since BfA, especially since Shadowlands, and a lot more now with DF, that they refuse to see the truth and call people who quit or like me "hater". I do not hate WoW. As a matter of fact, I'm currently playing WotLK. I hate Retail and I don't like Ion Hazzikostas who literally, released 3 the worst expansions in the history of WoW ... in a row, as a game director.

So, while we have all the ..ingredients to see how bad WoW currently is "While early Dragonflight sales have not reached the level of the prior expansion, community feedback on the title has been positive."

    ...
we still have this whiteknigts :

From Activision Blizzard POV I don’t really care.

From my POV, I absolutely love that less players are purchasing the expansion, and that less people are playing it. I’ve always said, that Blizz should launch an expansion, and alter the gameplay / decisions for their true customers, rather than millions, who don’t do anything else than quit and whine.

Personally, I like DF very much, and I’m very satisfied with it.

    ------

    I second this statement.

Also, as much as I am sorry for the Chinese players not being able to play WoW anymore, it is ALSO a good thing that AB lost the chinese market for WoW.

That means they HAVE TO invest into the western market again and suit for OUR needs first so we STAY at least.

This are fresh taken from Retail WoW forums.

If people don't see this as being wrong, of well, then they deserve to play this version of WoW.

There is indeed a lot of content. Too bad so much of it is wokeified. The names of the quests, which have always been not so subtle plays on words, and the pronouns good grief. Poor Khadgar only knows one pronoun any more. My avatar can be standing right in front of him half naked and he can’t tell she’s a girl.
