The 26th Annual DICE Awards were held in Las Vegas tonight, and while God of War: Ragnarok took home seven separate awards, including Outstanding Achievement in Story, Elden Ring brought FromSoftware another Game of the Year award.

Not really.
I think Elden Ring is a product of everything they have learned/experimented with, up to this point.
It's definitely a "souls" game and plays like any of the souls games but with various changes to their formula. It really is a very beautiful game (to my tastes) and it's very enjoyable, if not challenging, for me.

It's made by the same company and retains a lot of things that make a Dark Souls game but there are significant differences, such as the huge open world. As someone who couldn't get past the first/noob/tutorial boss in Dark Souls 3 no matter how many times I tried, I've gone through ER twice with about 350 hours played. I actually went back to DS3 and beat the first boss and have played a few hours into it.
Elden Ring is in my top 5 games played all time and I've been gaming since I got the Atari and original Nintendo back in the early 80's. If you've never played any of the Dark Souls games, I high recommend starting with ER first.
