"...intends its already beloved franchise to deliver fun that most other blockchain games have not yet done so”. This remains to be seen, but one of the common criticisms does usually stem from a perception that the games that include NFTs are a shell made around NFTs".
And if they do overcome that criticism we'll get to the second and more disturbing stage of NFT games: Real money trading and pay-to-win.
Although, as I've been told many times in these forums, RMT and P2W are not things that Asian and/or mobile players are concerned with since they have been groomed to consider those normal and acceptable for decades already.

They just don't get it, do they - everything sporting NFT/cryptobs so far has crashed and burned.
you want safe item trading? steam's marketplace been around for what, over a decade now?
It has no cryptobs and "it just works".
There are several games with NFTs that have done pretty well actually. Mir4 is still one of the top played games on steam. There are others too. No no Kuni cross worlds is still popular and has had over 7 million downloads and is still fairly active by trading volume, since we can't really determine exact players by download only, but it's seen an uptick.
Just saying, perception is these games are all failures, but in some cases they aren't.
That doesn't mean that they're the most successful but not every single one has failed.
Here's the top 5 "Polygon" based games in 2023.....never heard of any of them...though BCBully's old favorite Zed Run was on a list of all 17 games which run with Polygon.
"Polygon in 2023 are Planet IX, Benji Bananas, Oath of Peak, Arc8 by GAMEE and Sunflower Land."
Now, what exactly does Polygon bring to the gaming table? Glad you asked.
"What is Polygon:
Polygon is a “sidechain” scaling solution that runs alongside the Ethereum blockchain — allowing for speedy transactions and low fees. MATIC is the network’s native cryptocurrency, which is used for fees, staking, and more. The effectiveness of Polygon as an alternative to Ethereum has seen existing projects such as Aave and Curve adopting its chain."
Obviously nothing to do with enhancing a player's actual game play experience, unless you are one of those folks who believe Casinos are related to "gaming."

For some context, Ember Sword used to run on Polygon, (used to be matic) but most games are using either something more proprietary, or they're using Immutable X which is what Ember Sword went to.
It's also a layer 2 protocol on top of the ethereum chain, and recently partnered with Polygon for EVM Zk rollups. Zero Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machines (zkEVM) is just a different type of scalable project that uses zero knowledge proofs (just another type of security) to make ..well.. NFTs. In this case, enabling smart contracts on a larger scale.
What does IMX do for gamers? Not much, unless you consider that IMX has no gas fees associated with transfers, but that's not so much doing anything for gamers as much as just, not penalizing gamers for transferring assets.
The new owner of a CryptoPunk, one of the most popular early NFT projects, accidentally burned the NFT they had only just purchased. After spending 77 ETH ($123,434) on the NFT, the owner tried to wrap it so they could borrow against it.
However, some confusing instructions resulted in the owner sending the punk to the burn address, effectively destroying the NFT. "I was trying to wrap it and don't know what I was doing... Thought I was following the directions exactly..." they later wrote. They also later shared that they had borrowed money in order to purchase the CryptoPunk."

Every blockchain game is another FTX or silicon valley bank waiting to happen though the difference is your not gonna get bailed out if it crashes.
The golden years of crypto's nft's and blockchain are over we are in the year of stagnation welcome to the future, these things may still exist but the appeal they used to have is not as strong now that several things in the crypto industry have crashed all people see when blockchains games pop up is them being so desperate that they are grasping at straws, this will be the case for a decade or 2 maybe forever.
This is wishful thinking, the crash has only put NFT's and crypto games back a few years, it is breathing space nothing more than that.
Yes, the band wagon that we saw lining up before the crash is not going to happen in the next few years but we will start to see a trickle coming through, the news here should confirm that for anyone who has doubts.
This feeds back into something I always say, play your MMORPG's now because next year they won't be better games and in a few years they could be worse.
Block chain and Expansion of the universe is slim pickin's to make any sort of decision about anything. Is there any actual info other than buzz words? For me, Block Chain doesn't have this insta 'pixel gag' reflex on me that it seems to for others, but I definitely need implementation of it and everything else before I decide. The odds of buying something NFT is pretty slim on my part, but I sure will sell the @#$#@ outta some stuff.
The problem with this whole NFT, Crypto and blockchains in gaming is simple...
It has been done and can be done without using Crypto, blockchains or NFT's all of which are harmful to the environment and widely used in scams and money laundering for no benefit to the end consumer over traditional methods.
CS:GO, STEAM, ROBLOXs and more all have a market to sell and re-sell digital goods within a game eco-system.
NFT's within games would only work if ALL publishers/developers agreed to use the same game engine going forward as well as same way to code and manage assets and allow people to use NFT's purchased in other games across all games, things of which will never happen and we should not want that as it would limit innovation in the gaming industry.

The others have been so successful, I can see why they'd want to do this.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
