    Wow woodcutting. Really pushing the envelope there. Edge of my seat stuff almost 10 years into development. Ultima Online had that back in 1997.

    15 years ago is being nice it's actually 26...

    The really sad part is I still have a tiny bit of hope that Brad's vision will be carried like a torch and shine through when this finally releases and it will be fun to play. That hope is on the edge of a cliff hanging on by it's fingertips tho.

    The more I watch and read about this game the less confidence I have in it.

    If the next newsletter is mining and the one after that is fishing I'm just going to hang my head and slump my shoulders at my desk and sigh.

    They must have a gifted sleeping aid developer in their team to be able to come up with that.

    It's no more painful than Ryzom gathering. However, with Ryzom gathering there is a chance your character can be damaged by what you are gathering.

    Part of the real issue here is that work has been put into crafting and they want to show off their work but not realizing that it's as riveting as a user interface demonstration.

    Clearly the animation needs to be faster. And quite frankly I'd be open to having real danger as a part of the process. Not every time but sometimes.

    I'm hip to the various Pantheon tricks; I saw the length of the video and saved myself 48:50 of my life that I wouldn't get back.  Really, by the time this game releases, there will be at least 60 hours of pre-alpha videos.  The real question now is if watching their videos count as game content.

    Fighting a rock for 10 minutes to get 1 piece of ore isn't fun. Nobody asked for this. Nephele has been there for 3 years developing crafting and this is what they came up with.

    They have an entire team of developers at the Kitsap Country Senior Center working on this. It will get done. They just need to figure out a better way to move forward after each coder dies of old age.

    Seriously this gathering system is beyond stupid. Wow they are gonna give people 10-12 abilities to fight rocks and you can fight rocks in a group. When you press your dumb rock fighting ability it gives you more crit chance but you will lose health. /clap brilliant.

    I honestly can't believe this is what they came up with.

    Every single survival game where you hit tree/rock with axe/pick and get resource is better than this convoluted mess.

    How did someone go, "Yeah this looks good let's implement this."??

    In Ryzom, you first have to find the wood to dig it up. Wood isn't just laying around to be chopped. It takes a high prospecting skill to find high level wood. People have their own dig spots they've found and keep it secret.

    Once you find it, you can dig wood. There are 4-5 different kinds, each with 5 different quality levels. Digging is dangerous; it's a mini-game that can get you killed. So having a helper makes it go much faster and safer. Only game I know of where gathering/digging is more than a solo operation.

    They said skinning is next. I loved killing stuff in Vanguard, then skinning them and taking out body parts to upgrade my necro pet with.

    Wow, "digging" for wood. Always thought it would be knowing what tree or such you are looking to get wood from and then taking an axe to it.

    Imho there needs to be danger every single time.

    Or alternatively some detection where if you're not in immediate danger the gathering takes only a couple of seconds.

    I think they are using the same AI to control both the rock and bears, its just standing there while you taking damage somehow?

    I skipped through and didnt watch the entire thing but since they want it to be a group thing, was the loot group based/rolled or can someone just ninja it?

    Also what is up with taking damage while fighting rocks?  Is that supposed to simulate putting a pick in your foot or something, I am confused by this.  I am also confused by what are the tactics exactly for this?  It seems the guy just spammed all his abilities until his health was low.  Add a pocket healer and just keep spamming? 

    What is the gameplay here that is supposed to be fun.
