You know, until I clicked on the reddit post and checked the first post I didn't see the direct comparison between the two and was finding it hard to see a direct resemblance that would result in them stealing the art.

Once I clicked, however, it's pointed out very clearly and yes, its a very much 100% copy paste of the original art.

Not the first time this has happened, and honestly it needs to stop. As an artist myself, if you want to use my work, that's fine, just credit me. If you want to use my work commercially, I better be getting a royalty. I know the hassles of fighting copyright infringements of my own work all too well. It's not fun, and it takes time, effort, and money. Something no one should have to deal with when it comes to a AAA developer.

"it looks like this has a happy ending in the works."

For everyone except the contractor or employee who stole it and tried to pass it as their own.

I'm pretty sure studios don't like being publicly embarrassed like this so... there will be blood.

It's an improvement over the last time a Bethesda company was called out for similar behavior. Though last time it was id and Bethesda, as opposed to ZOE. Seems ZOE is a bit more forthcoming while handling things themselves.

I'm actually shocked they basically fessed up and are working out a settlement. Good on them as opposed to lawyering up and making the artist go through lawsuit hell to get competition.

Probably because some idiot intern at ZOS stole the artwork and made it into a skin. If they had more competent people working there, this debacle would've been avoided.

It's unlikely to be a question of people's competence. For a game as high-budget as ESO even the trainees have some skills, otherwise they could not produce good enough work for the game. When acquiring those skills they also get enough basic knowledge of copyrights and licenses that they know what they are allowed to copy and what they are not allowed to.

We know what you can and cannot use, somebody in that job would have it etched on their mind, artists take copyright seriously. It is obvious what happened, someone who had the skills did not put in the time, quite possibly "working" from home where it is no doubt easier to get away with that sort of thing.

I think its more a case of shit being outsourced to a foreign company. Dadburn ferrinrs staying where they are still taking our jobs.

I'm having a really hard time seeing the comparison from those screenshots to be honest. Definitely a "tribal" (not sure that's the right word) theme in both instances but a direct copy I'm not 100% seeing it.

You know, depending where one lives, the US is the outsourced company who is taking work away from the locals.

    Just saying.

yeah, I had the same though. I did find some similarities but it didn't seem all too apparent at first glance.

Easier to see here, especially on the right shoulder where it's not reversed:
