Thanks guys for the insight into this gacha thing. I was thinking about the dispenser thing like the in that Spice Girls video Viva Forever.

I am talking about what they have in Undecember I thought that was gacha but I may be wrong. I can buy random boxes with in game currency I can earn that gives me items for crafting. You can pay for them in real money by exchanging it for game currency  but so far I only used what I farmed myself.

There is no time limit or anything. There is also the use of resources to roll for prefixes and suffixes with them on your gear which can be bought on the AH which uses rubies you can buy with real money but I have not used that either. Then there is the skill runes that have 6 sides which you also roll for by RNG with a pity system. You can also craft the rarer runes. All this uses RNG.

Sorry there are battle passes that have time limits but that is another thing entirely right.

I think I am confusing all the systems and calling it gacha. Okay I'm done and bowing out.
Is anyone on here surprised that you got confused about cash shop revenue systems? As we know they are often built to confuse players and we have seen on here even posters who know their onions and have played the game for some time have still got the wrong end of the stick!

Also many of these systems cross pollinate taking ideas from each other merging their methodology. The classic worst practise in my eyes is P2W plus gambling, while the hardest ones to work out (for me) have revolved around multiple currency issues and unknown odds. That said crypto is going to add a whole new tier of obscuration and exploitation that will make players look back on gatcha with nostalgia.

I've never experienced a JRPG story that didn't include some fairly cringe dialogue, either due to cultural differences or localization.

Even Octopath Traveler 2 turned me off within the first 20 minutes.  I had to endure nonstop cringe with characters basically using the most ham-fisted, clichéd verbal fellatio since Lost Ark's companion quest things.

So honestly, it doesn't matter how much fun the game loop is.  That dialogue, paired with the monetization, means I'm not ever going to be interested in these types of games.

The dialogue is problematic for me to, but not all JRPG's, let me recommend Valkyria Chronicles, the problem is I have never found a JRPG outside some of the FF that is as good as VC, so I have given up trying really.

Sounds like it might be best if you just stick to what you actually enjoy and not force yourself into a genre you do not enjoy.  :)

I prefer a subscription model, with a cash shop of cosmetics, pets and mounts. It's the way FFXIV and WoW does it. It works because both games are very popular. What game like Honky... er I mean Honkai is doing, is taking advantage of your animal instinct to gamble believing you'll eventually come out ahead. But in the end, you'll realize they gotcha.
