Releasing new content is a team effort, but it's also an involved process. The New World team takes us into how they prepare new content for release, from QA to PTR testing, and even how they respond to fix a bug later.

From there track record I would guess they have No Idea how to Finalize Content for Release.

Yeah I was going to say this is about the last team on the planet that needs to be doing some sort of "master class" on releasing content. More often than not they break as much stuff as they fix in a release and it takes them weeks to stabilize after going into full on triage mode. I bet the developers cringe every time a release is planned. Their regression testing leaves a lot to be desired. I'd totally believe it if their devs told us they don't even do regression testing but rather just ship it once it compiles and passes a basic smoke test.

It just seems a strange sort of article to do to me, it is like someone said "we have to put something out" and a not so bright spark came up with this. The next time anything goes wrong, players will talk about 'the misplaced journey of a patch note' and so on, just setting themselves up for a joke.

"What not to do in easy to pick up lessons"

    They say

“We received player reports that the first 3 Winter Convergence quests were not accessible for some players. After looking through all of the reports, our investigation found that quest completion data for unrelated main story quests had been reused in the update for these new quests. This particular scenario was outside of the test coverage for the Winter Convergence update.”

Which means as well as design and coding being substandard and bug ridden their database developers have literally no clue what they are doing. I mean this is real basic stuff, how on earth can unrelated quests and their completion data cross over in any way shape or form, this screams of copy pasting and calling it work.

Their design and dev team are a cluster. They have lost all understanding of their player base and are hemmoraging players. Another potentially great MMO crippled and destroyed by listening to PvP whiners and making changes to appease that small vocal minority that alienates their broader PvE/PvP player base.

I don't think it will last out the year without a major rethink of their direction with combat nerfs.

These "community" videos are nothing more than cries for help from their staff who are trying to say "it's not us it's the system" that is the problem. Sorry, too late for that nonsense.

They also closed their forums so they could reduce the amount of feedback (negative) they are receiving.
