The game is still in early access and you are hype over "free" expansion. It suppose to be free, contents for the game that hasn't release. DUH

Too bad this isn't on Xbox too. I think it's a great fit for the built in social features and connections the platform offers. Steam, Xbox, and PSN are excellent for this. I think Xbox cross platform play is top notch as well, so it just seems like such a good fit.

I hope they keep developing on this for years. I think it can turn into something phenomenal.

Still a great game today. Recommend it for you and your friends.

Game was good when it came out in early access, I am surprised they just didnt call it released then.  Afterwards they released a bunch more content.  They really should just call this released and move on.  Devs are giving the customer full value by giving all this content beyond what normal games release with now.

I say great on the devs for making the customer happy.

Brainy, as a follow on from my thread, this is a ridiculous situation.

If you are right V Rising like Valhiem should have launched, what on earth are they doing. I don't wait until launch out of principle, I just like to see some 'bloody' reviews that are not neutered "early access" reviews before I buy, is that too much to ask? :)

Yeah, Vrising has way more content than Valheim.  I agree both should have launched instead of early access.

So why are they are waiting?  I have no clue, maybe they have a different view of games, where they want to deliver an extremely complete game at release.  So on a scale from 1 to 10 of completeness, they want to deliever a 10 vs a 9.  Where most games now are putting out 3 or less.

Having a fully finished content rich game with extremely minimal bugs used to be the standard in the old days.

However sitting in Early Access open to the public with a very complete game is also not the answer.  The game is becoming stale and aged even though its in early access.  If they really thought this content was needed, they should never have opened early access to the public.  That way everyone could enjoy it at the same time.

If you are waiting for this game to "release" its not needed, this game is complete, on regular settings (not modded) I doubt most people will finish it.  There is even more content now than when I played.

I've been close to getting this a few times. It looks like a quality game but I'm just not sure about the survival bits as I typically don't care for gathering and building. The ARPG part of it looks stellar though.

I own it on Steam and there are a lot of survival bits like gathering, feeding, building and avoiding sunlight, so that might now work for you. I like how it's put together but I also think it's the kind of game, sort of like Borderlands or 7Days, that can be enjoyed single player, but are so much better with a few other people.

V Rising is built as a PvP experience, but like other survival types can be configured to play PvE, or fit a single player experience, by flipping a few settings in server config.

You can change the settings to basically remove alot of the gathering/resource collection so you can focus on boss fights.  If you dont change harvesting rates the game will definitely get grindy towards the end.

However if you play on hard mode, the boss fights can be very challenging and it requires you to learn many different mechanics.  I really like how the game lays out all the special powers and how they are useful for certain situations.

I played it in PVE mode both solo and group, everyone in our group really liked the game.

The game is absolutely fire. Been playing for about a year on and off (just on mainly..). Base building and PvP scene is some of the best.

Its solid and along with Valheim, one of my favs. This update will be huge and will help a lot. I am so excited for it too - the changes will be huge for the game and I cannot wait to try it.
Still trying to work out why they don't launch though, this is not SC raking in money for little play. What is the business plan that makes this the best strategy? I am not sure they have one, maybe this is the devs being rather arty and never thinking their darling baby is finished?

Well is it possible a game is more popular in early access and gets more money?  If its popular enough, and gets enough good review hype, the EA title implies the game is still new and fresh.  Once they release the game, it just gets old from there.

Maybe more people will buy EA titles over released ones.  EA you can keep putting on these content patches and getting new hype.
