Yes, its easy to make something look good when its a CG trailer and not game play. I am starting to have some real doubts about this one. At least its low risk to try it.
That's kind of the sad part about all of this. The mmorpg community as a whole seems so starved for something 'new' that even this will probably see 10s of thousands at least try it in its first month (even Bless regular was able to pull in like 20k+ its first month before the huge fall off). Korea wants to keep pumping out mobile games ported to pc while actual western companies are either kickstarted or trying to nickle and dime everything as much as they can while keeping development costs at a bare minimum. All the 'big' mmorpgs are at like 10+ years old at this point.
Grats on the badge. On a side note, I am done playing sub par MMOs just because I want to play an MMO. Lots of AAA games out there to play while I wait for an MMO worth my time. I dont ask allot, it just has to be solid and fun.
Why not write an accurate article depicting the garbage that is being presented to consumers...
Me too, im going to reserve all judgement until i can get hands on with it but i wasnt anticipating such a bad reaction.
Ngl, I feel like it would go over better if NCSoft just sold the rights of Wildstar to AGS and let AGS work on it. Wildstar had a good framework and definitely would do well in the current mmorpg climate.
It was too cartoony for most.
It wasn't any more cartoon looking than WoW? Many people just argue the development was flawed. Too many poorly implemented systems and the combat felt like it still needed work for some. https://biobreak.wordpress.com/2021/08/24/why-wildstar-failed/ If they at least sold it off to AGS with an actual development team, it could do quite well given how desperate the current market is. Even Rift could do well if it had an actual development team. Nothing has been developed for that game in years. That's honestly how AGS should spend their money to see some turn around which they definitely aren't recovering from with New World and Lost Ark (with 3-4 projects canned that are known about and them supposedly giving the LotR mmorpg another shot after originally cancelling it).
I think the visuals could have worked well to their favor if they had more narrative to drive the setting. It was right on that cusp of being solid for CG/machinimation, and would have worked great for pushing the setting in that method.
T&L was not a Lineage 2 sequel.
Lineage Eternal was a sequel to Lineage 1.
Project T&L didn't exist in 2011, it was Lineage Eternal in 2011.
