This was the grand finale of the showcase yesterday.
I love me some Final Fantasy, but in all honest I am already tired of all remakes. It's just lazy.
I think the industry does a reasonable job of balancing it. There are a lot of masterpieces that deserve to be preserved and experienced by new audiences, and we still get lots of new games - more than any of us could ever play.
I dunno, I can get it, really. But all I see is great game being watered down for the masses. I haven't played anything but the original but what I've seen (especially the part 2 crap) I'm not impressed. Releasing on multiple discs, too is like a throwback to the olden days when media couldn't contain the game.. ???? Still outside of a straight remaster/HD version any of this is like gimme money.... please, we're poor.

Agreed on the broader industry; there is never a shortage of new games and backlogs runneth-over.
For Square-Enix and the Final Fantasy franchise, there's been little to look forward to for the last few years outside of remakes/remasters. I agree that it is great to have classics that are updated or reimagined for future audiences, but for big fans of Final Fantasy who want to play something new there has been limited options. I'll intentionally exclude all of their terrible mobile releases.

I am tackling my backlog at an insane rate (I've beaten 25 games just in 2023!) and even I don't foresee my backlog emptying by the end of next year. If anything, I'll struggle just to keep up with the good stuff on my PS+ Extra sub.
I thought FF7 remake series was going to be on ps4. I don't wanna spend $570 just to play one game. I'll have to wait till it comes to pc and hope the port is good enough to play.
