There - A User Created 3D Virtual World

Joel1120Joel1120 Member Posts: 624
I'd like to tell the community of MMORPG.com about There. Now I am sure you are asking what There is, well it is a 3D virtual world that is changing the way people interact and communicate online. One of the most innovative features about There is that it allows members to actually create and edit the world around them, over 90% of the content in There is user made. I've been a member of There since April 2004 and I have been blown away ever since. The community of There is so creative and friendly, it is hard to meet someone that won't lend a hand to help someone they don't even know. Also, one of the things that gets me the most is how much people put forward to help new comers, there are loads and loads of places that give out free items and money or even places that let you borrow vechiles and such.

There is about meeting new people and building the future of the internet while doing so. I don't know what could be any more fun then impacting and changing the internet, making and building a platform that will eventually revolutionize communication over the internet. The thing is that There is always changing and growing, i'm amazed at how much new content comes in daily and how many new members join every week. I've met some wonderful people and have had insight into the future of virtual worlds and internet communications. Now, all of this communication stuff may sound a bit boring to you. So let me give you a view into the kinds of activities and things you can do in There.

Of course as I have pointed out you can build and create whatever you heart desires. But some of the other activities are racing vechiles, going to events like parties, doing clue quests, exploring, designing clothing, doing in world sports, hanging out and meeting people, hosting your own event like a party or race, give tours to members in There, or even helping out some new comers. The list goes on and on, people are always creating and coming up with new things to do in There. I truly believe the possibilities are endless in There. I have seen and met some of the most creative people in There and i've explored a world that is ever changing. I've also seen and done things you can't do or see in the real world. But the most important thing to me is I know that i've done something amazing, i've changed the real world and the future of virtual worlds forever. There is something new and exciting, filled with unlimited possibilities.

It may sound boring at first but you must try it to experience all it has to offer. I don't know what i'd be doing this moment if I had never at least tried There. But I know that if you at least give There a try you will see some pretty amazing stuff, weather you stay or not. I think There is really something that has potiental both as a service and as a platform for whatever use. I don't know where the future will take There or the technology behind it but I certainly know the road ahead for There is going to be pretty amazing. The experience is mind blowing, but now you have to choose weather you want to experience There or not and I hope you choose to do so. If you'd like a tour or any help in world please give me a PM here. I'll be glad to help anyone at least willing to try There, and if you do I know you will love it. I'm also including the link to There's website and a link to a couple member made videos that really give you insight into the amazing world of There.

not to say that there isnt enjoyable for some but There is really a diffrent game run by bad people.

The developers dont listen to the community, you pay tones of money for stupid ingame objects,

the whole game is like a sex chatroom.

Dont.. buy into this there game, its a waste of time and money.

Ive extensivly played this game before, I think its a total waste. If you want a fun interactive game

where the players TRUELY BUILD THERE OWN CONTENT I can only recommend one game.

    Second Life - http://secondlife.com/

The developers are really helpful and friendly and are ingame regularly and you will find many diffrent things to do there. Unlike... ehh There where you just waste real life money on stupid ingame things.

A really cool thing about second life is you can MAKE money in it. I dont play secondlife anymore but i can tell you that its a hell of alot better game than there.

Um, I believe you are seriously misinformed about There. First off There is no sex chat room, There is a 3D virtual world platform that allows its members to communicate over the internet in new and exciting ways. It allows the members to be as creative as they want, and to make things with almost limitless possibility. I have no idea who you have met in There or who you have heard this information from but some where along the way you got the wrong idea about There.

Also, I don't know why you think There is run by bad people. The people who make and develope There are as creative as its members, if not more creative. They are what makes There possible and I respect them and what they do because they are creating the future, they are creating a next generation communication platform. I seriously doubt you have even been in There or if you have you've met the wrong people who have given you the wrong information. Oh, and yes the developers listen to the community. You just don't realize that coding takes time.

Yes, There may require people to use real world money to get ThereBucks but of course you can find other ways of making ThereBucks. Have you ever tried working for someone? There are tons and tons of in world companies and organizations that offer services and have open positions for people. I just doubt you have ever looked for a job, in or outside the real world. There is not a waste of time and money. You simply don't get the fact that There has to find a way of making money so the company can keep going, or else the virtual world we all know and love goes bye bye.

Things that you need to pay for are worth it, its the free stuff that is worthless. I hope you can have a more enjoyable experience in There some day. I know you didn't meet the right people and you obviously didn't see all There has to offer. If you need a tour or some help in There i'd be happy to assist you, however I can't right now. But I know if you are shown around by people who are decent and passionate about There then you'll have plenty of fun. Open your eyes and see what There has to offer!

Good day to you! Oh, and forgiven.

Ok, sorry for the double post.

I seriously don't appriate you coming in this thread and spewing lies about There. I tried to be polite to you but I don't see the need for you to bring Second Life into the mix. For your information I switched from Second Life to There. Would you like to know why? Well prepare for a pretty long post cause there are plenty of reasons.

    1. The community isn't that good, people are always either shooting you into the air or trying to do sexual and erotic things with your avatar.

    2. The game runs like quick sand. At the time I was in SL I had a Broad Band connection and it still ran like quick sand. I cound't walk around once I teleported some where without waiting 30 minutes for my client to stablize. Now I have DSL because i'm in There and everything runs perfectly.

    3. Learning how to build and script takes time, alot of time. The scripting language is complicated and runs into difficulties too much. It isn't too easy to network two objects which is something I relied heavily upon when I was in Second Life because all the parts of my avatar relied on one another and were networked.

    4. If you want a stable connection you have to lower all the graphics options and triddle with the network options alot. It takes too much time to play around with everything on the options control panel so you can experience a good connection for just a few minutes and then you have to twiddle all over again.

    5. Everything is streamed, which is the cause of most problems. If you don't have the best connection your experience is crappy, and even with a broad band connection I had serious difficulties. I like There much better because it runs good on a dial up connection and even better on DSL without any problems.

There you go! I gave you 5 reasons why I left Second Life and really don't care to go back again. I've visited friends in Second Life but I rather them visit me. You are misinformed and seriously don't know what you are talking about. I tried to be polite but I don't like it when people put down the hard work and creativity that has and will go into There. It is your choice to have a bad experience in There and to have an even worse time in Second Life. Thing is, i'm glad there are not many people like you in There because that was a big reason I left Second Life in the first place, the members.

Again, try to have a nice time in There. Have a real member show you around and try to have some fun once in your virtual life. If you like Second Life better so be it but don't put There down in the name of a 3D version of PhotoShop. Now, show There some respect and i'll have a better tone when talk to you. However, i'd like to speak with you on GoogleTalk or some where and find out why exactly you don't perfer There. I just like to know what improvements people want, sometimes I send them to There.

I really enjoyed There 3-4 years ago back when it was in beta.. the fact that there were so many things to do such as riding a hoverboard and busting tricks with it is just awesome. It was one of the most immersive online experiences I've ever had. The only thing that turns me off about it now is how you're supposed to convert real money into in-game credits.

Hahahahaha, I played There. It was even crappier than Second Life. Seriously Joel, the way you talk about the VIDEO GAME is very creepy. I could go on and on about how great I think EVE and Planetside are, but honestly I don't want to weird anyone out like you are doing. When I played There, it was like a place for a bunch of anti social, boring losers to pretend like they had real friends.

Well for some the idea of converting real money into in game currency is a good thing. That idea and principal allows people to actually make a living off of There's economy and market. See, since people are willing to buy ThereBucks a designer or builder could cash in his or her monthly income for some real world cash. See, I think that is just incredible. The idea of a 3D virtual world communication platform with almost infinate possibility and then being able to make money off it is just as good as it gets.

I heard that the beta days were good, unfortunetly I didn't get into There to experience the beta community which is still around today. But alot has changed since There's beta, the company that owns There has changed and alot of improvements have been made for the better. Developement runs smoother and the community is listened to more and the features we want often are released. I'm sorry you left There because I think you'd enjoy There even more these days, I mean why have all the other beta members stuck around so long? Because There is really that good!

I think that calling There a game entails that its actually fun or that there is actually a point...of which it has neither.

Atleast in Second Life I could actually mess with people and have fun knocking people off the map and then laughing at their pathetic crying PMs. Me and my little clan in Second Life had so much fun crashing those stupid in game parties, until we all got banned because we set an entire community on fire by spamming particles everywhere.

Its called being passionate about something. I think There could really change the way people communicate and interact on the internet. There is something amazing to me, it is everything someone could want in a interactive and online communication platform. I just don't think There can get any better, but the developers manage to do it! Oh, and I am not anti-social nor are any of the other members.

I remember it actually. Very weird. I think it degenerated into how we all thought that maybe he should go to a real club instead of a virtual one and interact with real people and maybe even meet a real, living, breathing female.

Well we did have tons of fun. I enjoyed it alot, but only because the game was so boring and dumb that we had to break the rules to have fun. Had I actually played it as it was intended, I probably would have had more fun beating my head against a wall.

Believe me Bob, you don't want to play Second Life. I mean when I first joined Second Life I thought it was wonderful, but that was because I didn't know any better. I still don't understand why any of my friends in Second Life stay there, it is just mind boggling to me. Besides there are plenty of people like the guy you replied to in Second Life, which he is a perfect example of why I left so long ago. People are pretty pethetic if they get a kick out of ruining someones fun even if it is in Second Life.
