I work from home (17 years now) and have not gone into any office in many, many years. Once a year we have vendor shows where vendors show us their new tech and then I go home.

I know of a number of business that have closed their brick and mortar business. I saw in the new in NY so many business have done this, so many that many commercial buildings are being converted to residential listings because bossiness that do have a brick and mortar situation, are looking for smaller office because it seems 40% W@H is the magic number.

I recently retired, and worked from home for 15 years before that. In software and chip design. Our teams were typically spread across the US and even in some foreign countries. No way to be "in the office" with them. This is common.

I work mostly in sales, business to business. Before Covid about 10% of the business we delt with did W@H model of some kind. Now its about the high side of 60%

We have been working remotely since a few years before the pandemic. We already do most of our work on remote systems anyway and the savings in gas, lunch, and commute stress is huge. We chat on Teams and Slack and use meeting software to communicate real time.

You either get your work done or you don't. Where it happens is very flexible with a lot of jobs.

My husband works from home a few days a week they give him a  laptop and it can only connect using a secure line. He cannot simply surf or go to other sites on it either.

He gets very pissed off because it gets locked from time to time. They have a whole department for this remote working security. It's a bank so they take it more seriously than others I guess.
