Was Brevik the guy responsible for letting my beloved Marvel Heroes go to instant shit? I remember some executive who couldn't keep it in his pants or something and the studio (and game as a result) went down the dumper.

I really liked Marvel Heroes and wish it was retooled as a single player experience like WH40K Inquisitor or Grim Dawn.

I loved MH,` then they ruined it,  then they shut it down after their execs drama. Still pissed about that. Honestly I'm not a huge fan of super hero mmos, but and ARPG MMO was kind of cool.

Not to be one sided, but not sure I'd pin the failings on Brevik, he's always been pretty open about the influence of corporate shenanigans on the game when talking about it. Not a messiah, but also not the linchpin to be lynching.

He left before the game was shutdown, by at least a year. The CEO at time game was shutdown, and who you are referring to, I believe was the son of the biggest investor or something similar.

Gamigo picked up the rights of MHs through the Trion buyout didn't they?

Also, does this guy think Torchilight Infinite is good?

They may own the assets and code, but they aren't licensed to publish Marvel them. They would have to pay for a license, assuming Marvel would even do it.

Thanks for clearing that up. It's been a long time.

What happened to Marvel heroes is a damn shame, comparing that to this corpse defiling Diablo Immortal level cash grab is even worse than when Daybreak tried to compare H1Z1 to SWG.

Gamigo owns the source code and assets for the game. The license was revoked by Disney before Trion bought Gazillion assets. And so Gamigo can not rerelease Marvel Heroes. And I assume replacing all Marvel owned references would have been far too expensive.

I have reason to believe that some former devs actually have the server source code but are afraid to release it to the wild for fear of legal issues from Disney. A private server of the game just before they ruined it would be great.

I kind of hoped the source would be given to the people running SWG emus.

David completely sold out for this mediocre game. He barely gave any stream time to his buddies when they were developing and released Torchlight 3.

And honestly, he's not actually a big ARPG fan as a player. He only streams them when he has a direct relationship to them. He seems to prefer mobile games. His wife is the one that seems to play them much more.

We shouldn't be remembering Marvel Heroes, we should be playing it!

After looking the game up and reading a few “real people” reviews, I’m getting the impression that they watered down Torchlight, put it on rails, and then ran it through the full pay-2-do-anything cash shop mobile games formula. If that’s true, I genuinely hope it crashes and burns.
