Pokémon Go developer Niantic has laid off 230 people, shut its Los Angeles studio, canceled its previously announced Marvel: World of Heroes, and is closing down NBA All-World.

Part of the problem presented here with Go is that they are monetizing the same part of gameplay in multiple ways. It worked well in pandemic because peeps were at home.
I get part of the price hike is incentive to engage the game in the 'traditional' manner of roaming around since it is a geogame, but they've opened the precedent of not having to do that and now charging people more for the privilege.
If they'd developed separate game elements to monetize, it'd work better because they could let the two sides of things coexist, not compete with itself as it now is.
