Look forward to trying POE 2. I kind of stopped playing POE1 with the advent of Last Epoch and now D4. But I've supported Grinding Gear Games ever since the original early access/crowd funding of it when it only had the first act. The game has suffered with some bloat over the last decade but at no point did I ever doubt that the people making the game loved ARPG's and wanted to make both a spiritual successor to D2 and a great game on its own right. They succeeded in both and made a free to play game with truly no pay to win options. I to this day feel they have the best FTP model of any game on the planet (that has to make money unlike say City of Heroes Homecoming or other emulations).
I truly loved PoE1 but as a SSF player I got increasingly frustrated with trying to find gear. I know it wasn't made for SSF but that is the way I like to play.
Also they REALLY need a player run auction house. It is so aggravating to find what you need and sit there in tells with no answer for 30 mins ;P.

I think the current auction solution is fine as long as their servers can handle it. But the next step is basically just integrate the web trade page into the game.
