Beards as a major content update in the roadmap.

    What about clown makeup?

As a man that feels naked without a beard. Most only games spend more time making a big deals these days, like, man being able to have a womans voice. Or having so many options for boobs and hands I am not sure how to take it. Sliders for boob giggle. I'm sick of only having 2 or 3 options for beards in most games or none. I need at least 50 beard options.

After the recent showcase, I am fairly confident that this is not going to be my cup of tea. In my opinion, the biggest issue is the community. My ****** God what a bunch of delusional snowflakes. This seems to also be reflected upon the development team or at least PR. People who gave any sort of constructive criticism in the comment section on their live show got hammered by the community and completely ignored by whoever is replying to people on their feedback.

The main issue with the game for me is:
    * Max 24(?) players per server. Next (M)MORPG, right?
    * The simple and dull gathering mechanics. Like... We've seen this type of gathering for the past 20+ years. Where are the mini-games that makes the experience exciting?
    * Same goes to the crafting

It's basically Animal Crossing 2.0. I hope I'm wrong as I want a really good social and relaxing game to spend late evenings on.

This is a really bad and bland game. I played the EA/Beta this past weekend .... wow. Not impressed. The game looks, feels, and plays like it came out in 2014 or so.

Good luck to them. But I don't see this game succeeding, even in the community it caters to. It just doesn't offer enough game compared to their superior Switch and PC competition.

I think the game space has room for a cooperative game.
It is the sort of title I'd play with my girls when they were younger.
We enjoyed Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia.

That said, raids by zombie raccoons would improve this title.

After some testing i can say its not a good game. Its worse technically than New World on release. Boring gameplay (yup they couldnt even get closer to Animal Crossing or "My time at" series) and cosmetics under paywall thats...not even mobile level of trash lol
And since its "cozy and comfy" game for "everyone" it doesnt have white skin. It starts with sun-tanned one lool. And no beards...thats kinda pathetic.
Who moves skin tone sliders over to 'white'?
I always give myself a nice tan, after all, it is a fantasy game.

If I wanted to see a weak, pasty-faced nerd I'd just look in the mirror.

It'll be interesting to see how the game develops overtime, NDA is lifted tomorrow so whatever impression people had so far, the real test from the jurybox begins.

My only reservation is just wondering how this will be supported financially longterm, i mean yeah- Sims4 is now f2p, but it's also got a billion dollar company keeping it afloat plus thousands of dollars of DLC.

So my guess is they are banking (gambling) on the playersbase to buy as many cosmetics and housing items as they possibly can?

I like this game, but i'm worried about it.

I have actually been excited about this game for a while and I hope to give it a shot. I really don’t want to end up disappointed; I wouldn’t mind more relaxing titles in my life. I didn’t see it as part of some new generation of watered down gaming mechanics - I just think that, if done correctly, it could be a nice reprieve.

If the complaint is that it’s exactly what they say it is - a relaxing game to enjoy and share with friends - then I’d say it could be a win. There is a difference between a game that isn’t done well and a game that we don’t enjoy. Though I’m hearing a bit of both in these comments.

That said, it has a cash shop…and if I can’t even relax in a game without having to pay for it, I’ll sink even further into this MMO depression I’ve been stuck in for nearly 2 decades.

For many of the posters in these forums, Palia is not the game meant for them, There are a lot of people excited for the game and the style of game. I remember back with the disaster that ways SIMS Online, a lot of the excitement was around being able to be online with your Sim and hangout with others. With the popularity of these style of games (which are for an audience composed of primarily NOT MMORPG.com forum posters), Palia offers a lot to be desired.

For everyone else, how soon we forget of the hundreds of people that would frequent cantina in SWG just to dance and hang out. One of the best aspects of SWG IMHO.

Im very excited about the chill game. I was a dancer in SWG =-) I really love everything I see so far in this game. I also get not everyone will like this play style. I am a explorer and crafter. So...

Probably the main reason I never tried SWG at launch was a CGW review giving it their "Coaster of the Year" award.

The cantina and "doctor" mechanic where players stood in long lines to get debuffs removed were significant factors in the low rating.

Authors did not well receive socialization mechanics which had players sitting around (like healing after a fight) instead of actively playing game.

At the time I did not yet appreciate the benefits of downtime so I stayed with whatever I was playing at the time, probably DAOC.

CGW really disliked almost all early MMORPGS, their extremely buggy, unstable nature back then being a big issue. (CoH was first MMORPG they really liked)

Their Editor Johnny Wilson had a running feud with Richard Garriot who famously had UO's devs create a new "slime" named after Johnny.

Can't recall if that happened before or after UO "won" back to back CotY awards.

    :)
